DM500, Card read through back RS232

Hi Guys

I have three orignial Dm500, One as server, 2 clients in different rooms, i was googleing and searching the forum about way of connecting additional phonix or smart reader through RS232 to host additional card for coming world cup!

1. just my simple question is that possible?
2.what best Smart reader do i need?
3.Does Smargo with USB to RS232 any better?
4. what emu is better for update and serve clients well?

* I don't buy fake or clone stuff,

I think it really depends on the card you intend using mate. That's about the only missing piece of info here.
I'm not sure you can convert a USB smargo back to serial. I think it's the '/dev ' addressing that will be the issue there.

You could most likely use a serial phoenix reader but again it depends on card.
CCcam is always the most likely emu to use.

Why don't you just stick the new card in one of the other DM500 and share it back to the other two. Seems the easy way to go.

The card would be Viaacess 4.
I would try Infinity Phonix first ..

I would also try to use USB conventer with Samrgo, but until i manage to find original Smargo as market is full of clones these days...

Will post results as soon as i work something out...

It does seem very good idea as it would cost nothing, the only issue here, is i have to keep DM powered all time. which it might be not Convient for my sister, she likes to sleep in very Dark room!..

I am glade to announce that phoenix , works great with DM500, I did not think one day my old phoenix would serve anymore, its reading the old Al7az33ra Via 3.0 smoothly, However, for the coming cup i would buy new offical via 4.0 card, has anyone got info that phoenix would serve this as well.

My next step would be to try readers with Virual com, such as smargo ..etc .. with Rs232 usb conventer, i think the real issue here will be the driver for E1, but will give a go sure, who knows might be i will be ending sticking more readers and cards, with usb hub.!

I can resist the joy of seeing my DM500 reading more than 2 cards! though they made it for one!

Here, i would ask
1.what is best availabe original reader on market to serve many card with different volatage and speeds??
2. I have been searching the forum and internet, if i could find a simpe database reference for all cards voltages and clocking speeding but i couldnt find one.

Any help would be appreciated ......

Hello, I realize this thread is quite old now but I'm looking for some advice. I'm trying to connect phoenix usb card reader to dm500 - which I understand works with a usb to serial converter - but I need to know how to configure it in my dm. I want to use the phoenix card reader with a via4 card and the internal card reader with a sly card.. Any advice please!!!!
