Hi

Just reflashed DM600 and I am having problems with reception on 19E.
I cant seem to get ORF, Prosebien, Premiere....although other channels are ok. Tried tweaking dish position but no improvement. Tried 2 images, still not picking up channels.

This is strange because my DM7000 works fine using the same dish and LNB....btw, UK based.

Cant imagine that the DM600 ALPS tuner would be inferior to the DM7000?

Am I missing something in set up?

Suggestions will be appreciated....trying to get this xmas pressy working!

Merry Christmas

Before reflashing, did the channels show on this box?

Where do you get the channel list from? Did you try to scan?

I have had a similar problem, but that was down to the LNB not working...

I reflashed straight away, so not sure if originally ok.

With new images (Nabilo & Gemini) I tried both automatic and manual scans, also tried with downloaded settings pack.

Even with channel settings listed just cant seem to get a lock. Its strange because my DM7000 is ok with same dish and LNB. I have also tried adjusting dish position and elevation.....still not getting signal.

So it looks like its either;

1. Dish Position
2. LNB on its way out
3. Cable/Motor Issue
4. Tuner problem
5. Firmware/Software issue
6. User problem!

I will try a new LNB when shops reopen....?

Thanks

Another possibility:
7. Box is faulty to start with.
You should have tested the box on arrival AS IS with the original image and if everything looks OK, you can then be sure that you have a working receiver.
The tuner of the 500S is possibly not as sensitive as the 7000S or any other STB.
BTW, which Gemini image did you flash?
There is a new Gemini 4.2 and before that Gemini 4.1 which gave problems to several users.
If you have the time, flash with Gemini 4.0 and see if this helps. Works fine on my 7000S (but I don't use a motor)
Good Luck.

Have you tried copying your 7000 settings to the 600 using dreamedit?
You will at least have the channels setup then.
If you think it is an LNB issue - does your 7000 still receive the channels ok because the 600 uses the same tuner as the 7025 which is supposed to be better than the 7000 tuner?

Is the 600 moving the dish to the wrong location? - Power up the 600 and tell it to goto 19.2east. Remove the LNB connector from the 600 and put it in the 7000, now goto a 19.2 east FTA channel and see if you get a picture. Then Remove the LNB lead from the 7000 and put it back in the 600. Try a fta channel ( assuming you copied your 7000 setting to your 600 succesfully) or try a scan on 19.2. Did you get any chanels on the scan? If yes then your 600 must be moving your dish to the wrong place.

If your 600 is moving the dish to the wrong place I would go back to the 7000 and make a note of which motor position is set to which satellite position. You can then go to the 600 and save the satellite position to the same motor positions as your 7000.

Sorry if my post is confusing.

Let us know how you got on.

Thanks for the advice and suggestions, I will be having another go to resolve this over the comming weekend and I will let you know how I get on.

As if I could think that my DM600 was faulty....shame on me!

Tried the box on its intended set-up with new dish/lnb and no problems. Still some fiddling about to finish install, but looking very good. Many thanks for your suggestions, at this stage I cant be sure of cause of problem with my set-up, I guess the motor was the culprit?

Box looks great, its just like my old DM7000 in operation, about a quarter of the size and a bit more flashy. Still, seems very small for £200, though size dosent count eh....very nice box & packaging.

If DM needs a beta tester for the new 8000...and I can compare it with my Fortec Star Passion....just pm me, HD really does look so cool.

Anyhow still keeping my fingers crossed for DM8000 release, but cant wait much longer, my brand loyalty is getting very stretched!

Just off to check-out Music Bobs beta FW 6.4, without doubt the bestest tool ever!!!...hope it does DM600 he he.

Thanks and Happy New Year to all!

I am using the Barry Allen multiboot plugin for my 7025+. It works well and I think you can get a 600 version. Only problem is that you will have to run it off the hard drive so the drive will be spinning all the time you are botted from anything except the flash image. Might be usefull for trying other images though.
