Thanks to all your replies :)

I've worked out what the issue is. Basically, the cccam wasn't listening on any ports at all, which meant it wasn't showing up as open through the likes of Shields Up and/or canyouseeme. org

And I've always wondered why I couldn't access Webinfo in cccam, and that's again because it wasn't listening.

What I've just described is what happens when I run cccam/newcs together. I then discovered that all my ports open and I can access Webinfo if I just run cccam on it's own i.e. they are listening on the ports.

Therefore, my cccam/newcs config is out of sync/corrupt, as something I'm doing in the newcs.cfg is causes the cccam not to listen on the specified ports.

Now I just need to work out what Iv'e done wrong, because I can cccam&newcs working to use my local 'white' card to to open the channels, I just can't get cccam to act as a server when it does.

Unfortunately/Fortunately (depending on how you look at it) I've got a Mac, so I'm unable to run the config B16MC has kindly developed. Which is a shame because all forum questions and help guides point to that.

Thanks again
Dan

In 5 years of Dreaming I have always used DHCP and always found connection issues when not using it. The issue of ensuring a static IP is easily solved by binding the Dreambox mac address to a specified IP address in the router setup so it always remains the same. I do this for all 6 devices on my home network.

The first thing I noticed when not using DHCP I could never connect to the addons panel. So obiously connection issues straight away. USE DHCP ! at least for testing purposes.

I too am a mac user in fact it's my primary OS of choice. If its an intel mac then simply install VMware fusion and install Windows XP as a virtual machine.

B16MCC: that is the elegant way of solving the problem => static IP, but not all routers support this form of setup(MAC/IP association) in the home environment and, from some of the questions on this forum, few people will set this up successfully; they battle to get basic networking set up.

yeah I guess thats quite true. With the issues he's got I just think its worth while using DHCP just to see if it helps the issue at hand.

Unless I missed it you don not say which image you are using, can you post a copy of the emu start and stop script ?

Also for the record DHCP caused me nothing but problems and for that I have 3 dreambox's, 2 laptops and the PS3 all with a fixed ip.

And at work every computer has a fixed ip so I can log what goes on via the ip.
That said what works for one is not guaranteed to work for the next man.

I've never, but NEVER, had any issues with DHCP and dreamboxes. I've gone through a USrobotics, Netgear (several) and finally D-Link routers and always get the "reserved" IP. Not all routers support the fancy filtering features (MAC, Ip, etc...) but all support DHCP. Anyway I would think it should be easier for the non-experienced users to use DHCP and of course I have heard of these problems but I cannot explain why

Ok, I've managed to create the config files using B16MCC's cool tool, but even on the most basic setting sI'm still having the same problem

i.e.

When I run Cccam on it's own, I can see port 12001 listening, but the card doesn't work (as exepected)

When I run Cccam with Newcs, the card works, but the port stops listening.

Here's the start up
23:26:15.304 CCcam: starting CCcam 2.1.1 compiled on May 2 2009@20:00:30

the 2nd just running cccam!

if i use a n line from my box to my 800 with the card in all is well and the channels clear!

but if i try and use c lines nothing zip nada!

with cccam and newcs running i cant access cccam webinterface

tflpunk:- I'm trying my best to follow what your doing here. Let's break this down a little. please answer the following questions...

Can you use the addons panel in your Dreambox to succesfully download anything ?
Have you created newcs.xml & CCcam.cfg using the Config Creator ?
If so, did you use Simple Mode ?
If so, did you select Sly UK from the 'Use Preset' drop down box ?
If you're not currently using configs made by the Config Creator then do it now.
When you run NewCS 1.67 and CCcam 2.1.2 , does the card work locally ok ?
What access have you given to people outside your lan ? N lines or C lines ?
What ports do you currently have open in your router to your Dreambox IP address ?

For the purpose of this fact finding post, please keep replies to a minimum to avoid confusion. We will expand on the problem when you've answered.

Thanks for your time in looking at this.

Yes, I can use the addons to download Cams, Configs etc.

Yes, I used the Config Creator to generate the files, and I used Simple mode with Sly selected.

The card works locally OK, the channels clear and the info tell me it's using "NewCS 192.168.2.5:15000" at Hop1

I have tried to use both N & C Lines to grant access without success.

I currently have ports 15000 and 12001 (cccam listening port) open in my router pointing to my dreambox.

-----
As a side note, based on trying lots of different config combos, ports, CFN lines, it all boils down to the fact the Cccam does not listen on the appointed port when NewCS is running. When I start cccam on it's own, it listens fine and peers can access my server with no problems. As soon as I bring in NewCS, they can't and the ports show as forwarded but with no service listening on them.

Thanks again for your help.

Try the following in the order shown:
1. Using the blue panel, shut down the cams (stop).
2. Telnet to the dreambox - 2 separate telnet sessions (twice in other words).
3. In one session: ps -A | grep CCcam - you should get no results except this command ( grep CCcam).
4. ps -A | grep newcs - no results except this command (grep newcs)
5. In one session: /usr/bin/newcs_1.67 -d > /hdd/newcs.log
6. In the other session: /usr/bin/CCcam_2.1.2 -D > /hdd/CCcam.log

notes:
a.Replace /hdd as required on your configuration with a valid directory. This will create the 2 log files independently and you can look at them:
b. The above asumes you are running CCcam2.1.2 and newcs 1.67.

in telnet:
cat /hdd/newcs.log | more
or with your favourite tools for viewing files.

If you dont see anything that indicates the problem, then post the logs here and we can look at them. Remember to remove sensitive info.

I haven't really got a clue what I'm doing apart from following instructions, so here is what's happening

ps -A | grep CCcam
4708 root 568 S grep CCcam

ps -A | grep newcs
4745 root 568 S grep newcs

Attached are the log files. I don't really understand them, so please let me know if there are any issue

As much as I can see from the logs everything is working OK and 192.168.2.4 is connected and getting ecms. There is a simon11 trying to log in with invalid credentials. This user is coming from 105.44.121.2, so it is from outside your local LAN, presumably the internet. But I dont see you trying to connect to the CCcam web interface or any attempts from other devices on your local LAN trying.
The following is visible:
a. You should be able to access the newcs from a web interface with
_http://192.168.2.4:8080 Remove the _ in front
Log in with admin/admin

b. I dont think you have used B16MCC config tool as some of the options set would be turned off by his configurator -----! Please use the configurator as it takes away a lot of effort to make it work.

c. You should be able to to access CCcam with
_http://192.168.2.4:16001 Remove the _ in front

Also you can remove the attachments from the previous post - recommended.

However, as you did not try to access the web interface I could not see if it worked or not. Can you do the same thing again and also try to access newcs and CCcam using the URLs shown above from a browser.

It was getting a bit late last night so I didn't get a chance to try out your suggestions.

I can tell you that I can access the Newcs web interface fine, and it looks like it's running ok. However, I cannot access the cccam web interface using the specified port when newcs is running with ccccam, but I can when it's just cccam running on it's own.

It almost seems like cccam listens fine on the specified ports when running on it's own, but then doesn't seem to function once Newcs is running (both for webinterface & server port)

I had a look at the ethernet info last night and it appeared to route the traffic via an 169.xxx.xxx.x IP, which isn't one I recognise as all my devices are 192.168.x.x

Anyway, I shall do as you suggested this evening and get back to you with the results.

Your help is greatly appreciated. Many thanks.

Check you emu start script, if after CCcam you see -s this will disable CCcam web interface.

Sonic: You are right. One of the Gemini images installed it with the web interface turned off, I can't remember which one though. I had this problem a long while back. I am getting old and dont remember things as well as I used to LOL. Well spotted.
The script he has to look at is /usr/script/CCcam_2.1.2_newcs_1.67_cam.sh or similar if he is using different versions.

That is very interesting. I shall give that a look over a little later.

Cheers again.

EDIT -

Just found this "cccam -s will run CCcam without the server - purely as a client"

I think we might be on to something here. Cheers guys, I'll let you know how I get on a little later

Good news and bad news.

The good news is, by taking the -s off the start up script, CCcam now listens on the server port and I can bring up webinfo.

The bad news is, as soon as I do that, my sky picture disappears from the screen. To be clear, the newscs and cccam work correctly to bring up the picture with the "-s" on the start up script, but as soon as I make that change to remove it, the picture goes. Although, the info bar suggests it's communicating with the Newcs OK.

Nearly there I think, just need to iron out whatever this last issue is and we're there.

Again, thanks for all the support so far guys.
