Do You Recognise This H-H Motor?

Hi guys, managed to pick up an old 1.2m channel master dish and motor. Still in the process of trying to set it up, it's a bit tricky because the mount is designed for a prime focus, I have not got a 36v controller and the motor seems to get stuck.
The actual motor is in bits at the moment, in the shed.

Anyway, just wondering if anyone recognised the h-h motor, and how old it was?

This seems to be very old and good quality device! I would love to have it renovated and installed. Just in case you decide to get rid of it I am first in line :-roller Is there any play in all the joinings?
 
Yes, I think it's very good quality too, extremely heavy though.

There does appear to be some backlash yes, not sure hw much though, as without the motor attached the drive shaft is not held in firmly enough.

The problem was when I had the motor on, it kept going dead, so I took it off so that I can move the dish to different satellites manually.

I have no plans to get rid off it at the moment, as I need it to drive my dish.

If somebody offers you another polar-mount, like on attached picture, would you conciser changing?

Never seen this one before. Maybe even home-made. Those bolts holding the dish look like they are about to snap....
 
CJ, if you are speaking about crooked treaded bars, than, for sure, how Robbo already mentioned added later when polar-mount was adopted from PF to offset antenna. This, for sure is very old and original rarity mount.
 
The motor might need a new reed switch on it.

Could be worth stripping it down for a refurb and then see how it works afterwards ?
 
No I can't see me swapping to be honest , as I prefer h-h than linear actuator.

Yes the bent threaded bars were like that and working for years apparently. I just replaced them with stainless steel ones as the originals were rusted and seized.
 
It looks (from the dual locking bars from mast clamp to gearbox) like the mount often seen on Precision 1.2m dishes in the mid 90's.
 
Looks about the right era for that channel hopper.

Got a vbox today thanks to Rolf , so hopefully will get it up and running soon.

But not too happy with the threaded bars, I'm think I'm going to have to construct something more substantial when I get around to it.

I'll probably just shove some more grease of some sort into the mount, that's about as much refurb I'll be doing with it for now, as long as it works, I'm not too fussed.
 
Or you can use it on a nice prime focus dish, just as it was designed. The swivel plate at the front - spinclinator ? - provides the various degrees of declination.

From memory - on the smaller version anyway - the top part of the gearbox had a large washer held down with an Allen bolt, and many of the accuracy issues were down to the magnetic wheel losing its ability to drive the reed switch, rather than the switch itself.

I may have a couple of spares in the shed
 
Ah spinclinator, I like that, makes perfect sense, as it is angled, thanks for that I didn't realise the significance.

I have connected up the v box and it seems to be diving the motor ok so far, though the buttons on the front are driving in steps rather than continuously.

I need to get some cable before I wire up properly, as I've just got some speaker wire at the moment with no sense wires. But checking on a multimeter the reed switch appears to be ok, and so are the limit switches.
 
I have a lovely Precision 1.8 that would fit just right on that motor.
 
Step 1 get divorced
Step 2 put on 1.8m prime focus
