Dragon and Sky Cards

I know that to enter serial number of sky digibox but before I must tune the channels but I get only sky box office or few info channels not all the premium channels I think something wrong with my receiver any advice will be apreciated and many thanks for the quick reply

First things to do is check http://www.lyngsat.com/ that you have the transponders for these channels tuned in to your receiver. If after a re-scan you are not receiving these channels it could be a firmware or LNB issue. Best check your manuafacturers web site/forum. Hope that helps.

thanks a lot for your advice but the question is if I connect sky digibox all the channels are there with the same lnb but only with echostar receiver 5020 I can`t tune all sky premier channels if any possibility or advice ? And also try to rescan once again.

Apart from tuning in the correct transponders for these channels it could well be a fault or firmware problem. Funny enough there is currently a problem with my receiver in that the most recent firmware does not find channels on transponders above a certain frequency. If I go back and do a scan on older firmware I get twice as many channels. Not saying this is the problem with your receiver but a firmware change may be worth considering. Good luck...

Hello everyone,

I have a question.

My cousin lives in London, so I asked him to buy another sky digibox for him (Sky multiroom), and to send me a card from that digibox. I have Dragon CAM with NDS support so I wonder will that card work in my reciver and do sky card needs some sort of update and how to do it ih the card is not in digibox. Of couse that digibox will be connected to telephone line. Thanks

Well I posted my ex-subscriber card to my parents whom in turn inserted it into their digibox. Withing 5 minutes they could see all five terrestrial channels. Posted card back to me and it still fails to display a picture for the other non BBC terestrial channels. If I check the settings on my dragon card it says dycrypting ok. Think this must be a compatibility issue with my Finepass receiver.

Does anyone know how I can watch the ITV channels on Astra 28*E, 19*E with my Manhattan ST350, Dragon with Predator 3.12. All the BBC Channels are fine just the ITV ones don'r decrypt (VGRD)

You need a Free to View card for those channels, should work in the Dragon CAM.

I have a Twinhan DVB-S CI card in my PC with a dragon cam and latest preditor update
I can view free to air channels without the cam or card from Astra 28 E

I entered the 10 digit sly box number in the cam reset and entered my sly card
the card is detected ok NDS but i cant view any of the subscription channels
the cam says not decrypting.

Have i done anything wrong or have i missed something ?

any help appriciated.

well it could be a problem of compatibility between the Dragon CAM and the Twinhan PC CARD, try to test it in a Common Interface receiver

but the other "ordinary" functions of the firm. predator 3.12, do they work? are you sure you installed it correctly (via pc? I knew that the dragonloader card was necessary, or CAS 3....)
it seems you made everything correct, in my menu it says "card is NDS - decoding OK"...

I have same thing with my Finepass receiver. Not sure but think Handan are one and the same with Finepass. Dragon working perfectly ok for everything else and upon entering menu says dycrypting ok. Only thing is no picture. I checked the Finepass forum and there have been mixed results. Souns like a compatibility thing.

Important: in order for the NDS premium channels to work you
need to (apart form subscribing that is..):
-Tell your Dragon the serial number of the original Sky box your card is married to.
You can find this 10-digit number in the menu of your original Sky box,
services->system setup->system details.
You need the SERIAL NUMBER (and NOT the viewing card number!)

Now go to the menu of you Dragon, settings->NDS Box serial.
Here, enter the 10 digit serial number including any leading zeroes.
If your NDS card was already inserted into the Dragon, remove and
re-insert it after changing the Box Serial.
Now you're all set!

Failure to set the box serial will result in movie channels and other premium channels not
opening.

N.B.

Very interested in this post as I have a creaky old Grundig Digibox (with a subscription card) and a Topfield 4000 PVR which - at the moment - is just used for fta. This is a shame as the quality from the Toppy is so much better - after you get used to a few odd quirks.

As a complete newbie to CAMs, I have a few Q's:

What can I expect if I buy a Dragon? Once set up, will it emulate the Digibox (EPG, interactive news etc.) or would I still just have the "Search and scan" EPG?

Is a loader card essential to set up the CAM in the Toppy?

Will I need a smart card programmer to set up the Digibox number or is this done in the receiver?

Anything else I need to look out for when buying the CAM and accessories?

search and scan the way your Toppy does, these functions do not dipend on the CAM but on the receiver

for as far as my (limitated) knowledge, to program the Dragon CAM you need a programmer (Infinity, Dynamite, Smartmouse, CAS 2) + loadercard or just the new CAS 3 programmer (doesn't require the loadercard)

it's very easy to do in the receiver by remote control
