Just wondered what i can do about updating my dragon cam.

is there a programmer? if so which is the best one and who supplies it, long term will be cheaper than getting the satellite shop to do it.
 
I use the Infinity USB Phoenix programmer which works fine but you do need a serial connection as well as USB.

There are others such as the Duolabs Dynamite and the CAS3. Search about a bit I'd suggest.
 
Good time to do it. Predator V3.32 just out with Polsat and D+ AU.

Indeed. Crash was on TPS tonight but it's the mature content one, not the Oscar jobbie.
 
Any reccommended online suppliers with competitive prices.

Is it difficult to self update once everything is setup, or do the programmers come with relevant instruction of where to obtain update files and stuff
 
Dead easy to update - you get the files from your favourite supply site, and just upload them onto the dragon loader card..

The card goes into the cam and you hit the update button. The firmware is transferred over and away you go.
 
Probably more a case of easy when you know how! For some of us it's difficult to know how to even start such an exercise.

Moving swiftly on, last night I managed to load Sport Klub Serbia from Eutelsat W2 onto my Technomate receiver. Today I am trying to add Tele Sport, also from Eut W2...but the search ends with NO SIGNAL! Does anyone know why this should be the case?
 
Ooops, finished my message early by accident.
Both are free to air channels on the same satellite, so why am I getting a 'no signal' message re the Albanian Tele Sport channel?
Thanks for any help.

Anyway ive decided to get a Cas 3 programmer it comes with a j-card and a dummy card.

I never got a loader card with my dragon will i be able to update it without or will i need to obtain one?
 
Hi Nathan, That's cos I didn't see the 'post new message' button. Perhaps you can help me with that one!
 
soz mate bit of a newbie with the programming side, got a dragon as it decoded most channels nice and simply.

Ta, I think you must have the dragon loader card as well as the cam, and you then you update the card. As for myself, I send the card off to someone and pay £5 for the upgrade but I would like to learn to do it myself. Efesat on ebay do the cas3 at £60 inc postage
 
Programming a Dragon Cam :

You will need either a dragon loader card, or a Fun7 card, plus a card programmer.

Download the latest predator file from your favourite download site. Unzip it and make sure you know where its gone!

To programme the dragon loader card get a copy of dragon loader from

You will need:
Smartmouse compatible card programmer (something like an infinity or dynamite programmer)
The dragonload.exe program


Connect the card programmer to com1 or com2, make sure the programmer is in 6 MHz mode
Run "dragonload.exe"
By pressing the "Settings" button, you can change from com1 to com2 depending which com port your programmer is attached
Press "Connect"

If you have a Dragon Loader card:
Select dragon loader card in the drop down menu
In the file open dialog that appears, select the firmware you want to load (.dra file).
Load the .dra file
The card will now be loaded. (This will take a 3-5 minutes).

If you have a fun7 card:
Programme the flash with FUN7LDR.HEX
Progarmme the external eeproms with the predator bin file. If you are using infinity software select option 2 "reverse spanning" to split the file when asked. (Your programmer software needs to be able to split the bin file across two eeproms)


To change the firmware on the dragon, put the receiver onto a fta channel. Insert the loader card. Turn the receiver off. Turn it on, and navigate to
the common interface menu on your receiver.
Select the "Dragon Loader" module.
In the next menu, select "yes, Load module".
Now a menu appears indicating that loading is in progress. To see the actual percentage you will need to press "refresh" as there isnt any auto update.

Loading will take about 5-10 minutes, so dont be in any hurry to do it!

Remove card, and switch the receiver off then on again. Your dragon should now display the new version of predator.

Dont try what I did the first time, and try to do both sets of instructions on one card.....or you will get totally confused. Follow the top one if you have a Dragon Loader card.
 
Just making an attempt to update my dragon with the cas3 with no luck,
i'm using the dummy card it cam with and getting the message no ATR when using the duolabs software.

when using dragon.exe i cant get the program to connect in com1 and com 2 is not active.

tried to connect directly to the cam using duolabs software, but i get the message usb port timing out.

Where do i go from here and what am i doing wrong.:-DOH!

Is there anywhere i can buy an official dragon loader card as i dont have one?

found instructions by Spider for using a Cas3 and dummy card:
Programming Dragoncam / T-rex using dummy card.

connect one end of 20pin ribbon cable to cas3
and the other end to dummy card.
insert Dragoncam into pcmcia slot of cas3
and insert dummy card into dragoncam slot (contacts facing up)
insert usb cable, and start cis software.
click cam module, then other cams, then Dragoncam.
select cam version, either ( 2.x ) or ( 3.x - 4.x )
click file name [...] and navigate to required *.dra
a new window opens...(common interface host)
select Dragonload. then click the Enter Selected button
select "Yes, Load Module", then Enter Selected button.
dragoncam will now be loaded with selected file.
a progress monitor will be shown in dragoncam loader window.
wait for loader successful, then remove cam.
 
ended up buying a dragon loader works perfectly, dummy card doesnt work with dragon, well i cant get it going that way, but loader card excellent,
proves you cant cut corners all the time eh :-rofl2
 
Just wondered what should open on astra and hotbird, im finding all the nagra channels show but not mediaguard, should channels like HBO show up and if not is there a way to get them showing.

Im now using predator 332.
 
You mostly get the D+ package on Astra, but you can also open TPS on Hotbird 13E, and D+ and Cabo on Hips 30W.
