DragonCam 4.1 Upgrade needed or Dead!!

A humble soul needs guidance.
Bought a DragonCam 4.1 last September, got quite skilled loading the various Predator files (and occationally manual code on remote).
After approx. 9 months and suspiciously close to the end of period for free Adult channels, I lost a significant number of channels.
Suspected overgrown garden or potentially kids misaligning the 1,3 meter motorized dish, but signal has all the time been quite good.
I get a limited number of channels on each of the satellites, i.e. HotBird, Astra, Hispasat, but have lost a lot of the obvious Free-To-Air channels
Have now updgraded to latest Predator 3.54, which loads OK , but problem persists.
Does the actual Cam need an upgrade? from 4.1 to whatever? If so, what are the names of programmes/files required.
Is this T-Rex or this another card.

Hi Phil1963,
you do not requirte a Cam or card to watch Free to Air channels, they are unencrypted. I suspect the channels you've lost are the same ones we've all lost because they have upgraded their encryption. TPS is no longer available, but there are a few channels you can still get on Hotbird, Jetix, a cartoon channel, E Europe, and the full SRG Swiss package, on 10E you can get biss channels Disney ME and MGM International.
On Astra you can get the music channels, but for anything major you require a Diablo Cam or a T-Rex 4.6 supermodule, both of which open Premiere, or an Anaconda card, which does the same, but I seldom recommend cards.
There are rumours that TPS is open again using a Sky Star PCI card and a certaind brand FTA receiver, but I can not confirm this.
If you check out lyngsat.com you can check if the channels your missing truly are FTA.

Also Phil, channels move to different transponders leaving the channels on the old ones dead, again if you look on Lyngsat what transponder they are on now - I had a similar problem not long ago - I just couldn't get anything on hellas sat, Iooked on Lyngsat and all the channels had moved I put in the new transponders and re scanned them and I now have them back.

Back to the kids misalignement theory.
Even BBC World on Astra1 comes up with a 73% signal strength, but has a clear problem, breakingup into the small digital squares and distorted sound.
Strangely on Hispasat 30W, MGM, ctk, Dark, Ekstreme are perfectly clear.
Any further suggestions?
Any easy checks for misalignment??

Hi Phil1963,
there's no easy way to solve this problem, you'll just have to check every step, starting with your cable, check that the connection isn't lose in your receiver. Are you experiencing this problem on certain channels, i.e. all Horizontal or Vertical channels, as this could point to water ingress, in the LNB, and is the easy to check by making a list of the channels your experiencing problems with. If it's both Horizontal and Vertical, have you noticed if it's on particular satellites, in which case your dish might have moved, in the strong winds and might need re-aligning to get the arc. If this is the case, move your dish to where you originally set it up, usually 1 West, and check that the settings, on dish and motor, are correct, also check the cable connection to see if it's loose or has water damage.
If possible also try another receiver to see if this is the problem.

Phil, yes Mickha's right there's so many things that might be causing it - again from my own experience, I couldn't work out why, some satellites seemed really strong, some satellites were strong on most channels but some were weak and breaking up in some cases, in the end I tried the individual satellites on manual motor setup and they improved such a lot, so then in the end I changed my usuals location about one half degree in the receiver set-up and they've been spot on since. raymondalbert.
