Hello,

I want to buy a Dreambox 500s, and i can see some price between 60 pounds to 150 pounds! i heard there are a lot of clone from china!!!
So how to know if it is an official one on the website... :confused:

Furthermoe, the Dreambox DM500-S has been discontinued as of June 2007, so all i can find on the website, they are clone? U-zzz
Can someone show me a website where i can buy a real one!!! :toke:

All new ones offered today will be clones.

The build quality of some of the clones is reported to be very poor.

why not go for one of the new 600 series boxes instead?
 
:( too bad! the 500 very cheap so good product to start with!

So the 600 will work like the 500 (software...)? because all the tuto on the website is for the 500...

Most of the information for a 500 will work with a 600, 7000, 7020 etc. The 7025 is slightly different.
 
Beware also of the 600 as there are also clones.
Best thing to do is to buy from an authorized distributor.
 
Is there a model equivalent to the sky+ box? with twin tuner,hard drive and epg?
 
That would be the DM7025 or DM8000 HD. For full EPG its best to use the nabilo blackhole image.

I just went to a shop in the center of london, and i managed to see a DM 500s at 99 pounds, i quickly checked the box (the new one) and the sticker... as in dreambox website, it seems normal... fake or not!!! if it is a clone, what is the real difference in term of reception... and there are still some updates which can kill the boot?

it was at totteham court road, charing cross, cant remember which shop was it exactly!
 
500s ceased production a few years ago (2007?). You can't tell by a quick look that is a fake.

The 500 isn't the most reliable box in the world. A 600 might be a better bet; a 7020 is much better.
