My Satellite Setup
Motorised set up, 1.2 m dish and a Dreambox 7020Si receiver.
My Location
Dublin, Ireland
Was operating on gemini 4.6 for awhile. Then overnight froze and went blank. Wont boot up. Ethernet cable is not flashing. Both tv screen and dreambox display are blank allthough the the light is on and i guess nobody is home. Any suggestions or help greatly appreciated.

As Compufunk says: when all else fails flash it with DreamUP using a null modem cable.

How old is the box and is it possibly a clone?

You sure its a genuine box. Sounds suspiciously like the bootloader has been wiped )(-red

Sounds like it might need a jtag my friend :-Nooo

This is why i stay clear of Gemini now after it wiped the bootloader off my old genuine 7000. It came back to life after a jtag and has worked with no problems since

I have no respect for those morons who think its fine to damage property that doesn't belong to them.

Yes, a good advice - Stay clean from any Gemini programs.

Nowdays they (at least) warn for clones using it but still it is childlish behaviour.

Now they don´t even sell the 500 so what is it for them ??

The Dream is overpriced and there are a few new boxes coming.

Start with the cut off from power, then try Dreamup and (if nothing will work) then read the guide and do a jtag.

Hi All,

Thanks for answering my post. I turned it off and left it for a day or so and back it came. Any suggestions on what other image I should use. Which is the best and the safest?

Nabilosat DarkstarII is well worth a look :)

Last time i looked Darkstar 2 had security issues with port 80 being unsecure.

I have a fondness for S.I.F 1.9.3d, Its very stable and just a nice image in general :-worship

Thats the first I have heard about this. Have you got any more info? Or a link? A google search yielded no info on it.

I would have thought they would be using standard open source code for the likes of TCP/IP and other standard OS stuff. There may be more than Darkstar2 effected in that case.
