Hi. I've pulled out my old Dreambox DM7000s and put on some new images to try out. I have a problem with getting a signal. I can't seem to get it to lock on to 28.2E. I took it over my dads, tried it into his dish and no problem, it worked straight away. I believe it may be a problem with either my LND or cable however the strange thing is I have no issues with my dish with a original SKY Digital box I get all channels without a problem.

Anyone have an idea what it may be?

Welcome to forum! Do you have any diseqcs at your place between antenna and your dreambox?

Not at this time. I've always used a 1.2 M motorised system but the wife won't have it. I've only got the Sky mini dish up with a single output LNB.

Have you checked the cable? Depending on how my cable goes into my Dreambox I either get full signal or nothing (one day I'll sort the cable out :) ).

Is motor still there? Cable connected directly to LNB or goes via motor?

Just straight to the LNB from the receiver. I was wondering about my lead but can't understand why it works with my Sky Receiver and not my Dreambox.

And, of course, in your Dreambox settings you have Simple with only one LNB? If so, than try to check F-connectors, other-ways it is mystery. :-wow

Yeah. Checked that, everything fine with settings. I'm wondering if my signal is just low and the sky box has a stronger receiver than my dreambox?

I doubt that! Can you try to make full automatic scan of 28,2*E? Just let Dreambox work.

I'll give that a go later, I'm gonna try it on another dish today. I got no channels when I scanned from a new setup. I had to upload the channels to my box. I did try a scan at my dad's and it did lock and find the channels ok, took it home and again no lock on signal.

Tried my mates dish, picked up the channels I had loaded into the dreambox with no problem, good strong signal and great picture. Tried it again at home after re terminating the f- connector and a very flickery occasional picture. Still wont lock on to a good signal for a rescan. Still getting a very strong signal through my sky box so really confused. Does anyone think I may need a new LNB?

LNB's are dead cheap so its certainly worth replacing it.

Tried an in-line signal booster. I now get a few of the free sat channels but not many. Could I need a better dish? The one on my wall is a very small very old Sky Digital Mini dish. When i've tried other dishes they have been a little bigger and a lot newer versions.

Signal boosters amplify Noise as well as Signal, and add a bit more Noise of their own.

So, unless you are trying to overcome undue losses on an unavoidably long cable run, they have no real value.

Durham is marginal for a Zone 1 dish, unless it is perfectly aligned and robustly fixed.

I have a Zone 1 in North Yorkshire for my Freesat PVR and even with a short cable run and a new, low Noise-Figure LNB, have only an average signal on Eutelsat 28A. 1N, 2F and 2A are aok.

A Zone 2 Sky dish or a 60cm+ proper dish would be better.

(None of which explains why your Sky Box works!)
