Hi guys, might be a silly question but I am new to this forum so go easy!

Put my 800 into standby last night (pushed button on front!) and this morning it was purring away again!

Any reason why this may be?

Someone hacked into it and is watching via your box?? Wouldnt be the first time!

If it happens again tonight disconnect it from the router and see if it happens again..

Thanks mate - it actually happened again last night so I defo need to change passwords etc

Sneaky !!

Yes you do - if you are on a card share they may have been resharing your shares as well so check your lines carefully!

Hi Folks,

Although it is possible to switch the box on from the webif, it is certainly not necessary to do so when logging-in or sharing, standby will do fine.

As far as I can see, it is not possible to switch the box on from an open sharing port.

If someone has turned the box on remotely, this would suggest that you have port 80 open!! This is not at all necessary for sharing (only open your sharing port) and not a good idea under any circumstances. No password will be safe on an open port 80! The only safe way for remote webif access is Dropbear (or other) SSH tunneling using an obscure high port number and RSA key authentication not password.

Checkout this thread from member @packetstormer for SSH on the DM800:
http://www.satellites.co.uk/forums/...973-how-ssh-dm800-rsa-key-authentication.html
and my link (in the thread) for further information (my link refers to the DM7000 but some info could be useful).

Best wishes, John.

Have you checked your epg auto update? It could switching on to update then it stays on because you have the 'do nothing' option set
