dreambox dvi output ******* annoying!!!!!! help!!!

hi guys!

i have an 800 and as you know this comes with a dvi output not a hdmi,
this means that to my tv i get i lovley picture, but no sound!!!!!!

i wonder if any 1 knows if there is such a lead that will do dvi and audio,

ie hdmi connector 1 end and dvi and audio leads the other?

had a look around and there seems to be no such product!

this looks like a goodd thing to start making!!! not only would us dreambox users buy them, but ppl using pc to tv would as well :)

is there any way for me to get the audio dowwn the hdmi lead ???

Audio output is available on the DVI terminal. Doesn't the DB800 come with a custom DVI-HDMI cable?
 
yea but no audio through it! !!!
 
Got lost somewhere along the way then. Could be a problem with your TV.
 
if u look at the pinout for a dvi connection (ie whats on back of the dreambox) there is no talk about audio anywhere!

looks like no such lead on the market atm to include audio fly leads!!
 
As I said, it's a custom cable, wired to carry audio on (I believe) the pins normally used for analog RGB.

Try setting AC3 default to NO in the A/V menu, although I'm pretty certain analog audio is always present on the DVI regardless of any changes there.
 
hello m8,

the dvi-hdmi cable that comes with your 800 has sound. it must be a tv problem or you are using a hdmi splitter. i had a similar problem since my tv came with only 1 hdmi socket output

Yep you defo have a problem there mate. I have the 800 and 8000 and the DVi type connector carries audio on both boxes.

my dm800 has its cable provided and when connected to an hdmi connector, sound comes perfectly even in ac3

did you come up with a solution?

i have the same problem. i have video but no sound from dvi output with the cable that came with DM800. If i use scart output, then i have both video and sound.

i don't think it's a problem with the tv. because i can use the same hdmi input slot (with western digital hd player for example) and i get the sound.

sorry about the delay in replying, tbh i forgot i asked about it lolol!

no i still aint sorted it! but ive not tried changing settings yet!

looking at another post a while ago some 1 suggested changing output to scart then back to dvi... supposedly that cured it!

am going to try playing to resolve it tonight, as gettig fed up with using my amplifier to use my box.....

any suggestions on what to do???

Do a factory reset, this will reboot the box and take you to the start up wizard which allows you to select the desired output.
 
ok ok so im a bloody idiot!!!

when i was 1st using it i only used the scart output (as av is routed round my house) so initally set the db to scart output!

when i actually changed it in the menu to dvi output it gave audio down the lead! lol

when i checked the other rooms the audio and video was also still being routed down scart as well

looks like i just had 1 of them moments (embarrased)

Yes, DVI output is extra to the other AV outputs, which are maintained irrespective of whether DVI is on or off.

Don't worry, we all have our moments (mine are senior ones :-rofl2)
 
I had similar problem with all setting OK what turned out to be that DVI Connection need to be firmly attached thats why someone before said change to scart then back to DVI worked!!!
