dreambox fta channels

hi john latest update is i've bottled it and asked the guy who's doing my cardshare to set it up for me how sad,but one question. i have a dm500s downstairs using cardshare this other box is for upsatairs which i'll obviously have to get another cardshare slot but when i go on dreambox control centre it shows the box i have already set up i.e.pc ip address / dreambox ip address / and router ip address. but when i have the two boxes set up what can i expect to see on the dreambox control centre to make sure there both working correctly.
 
You will never learn how to run a db if you get someone else to do it for you. Next time it stops working due to a network problem you wont know why and will no doubt have to shell out more money..
 
Blimey all you have to do get your box to find everything on the sat is to go into transponder settings

Menu -> 6 -> Transponder settings & Select the Sat required :cool:

Just make sure that Network Search and Advanced Network Search is ticked and the box should find everything there is once it sees at least one valid transponder :D

I'm also new to this Dreambox thing - do I need a cardshare subscription to watch freesat channels? Are all the freesat channels available?

Freesat channels are just that - free - and will work on any digital receiver. HOWEVER you wont get more than now & next on the epg.
 
And, in Corfu, the biggest issue you have is not the Receiver or any consideration of Cards, but the size of Dish - particularly if you want the Free To Air Channels on Astra 2D.
 
True - I used to have a 2.4m dish and a sky box, but in winter the signal would break up a lot, so I sold the dish. Still got the sky box and blue/yellow card.

Please note any discussion whatsoever about paid for card shares is absolutely forbidden on this forum so Ive removed the reference to them..
 
pkossie, not appreciated your requests for advice on dreambox issues when you are in fact using a pay server. very cheap
 
very very sorry please disregard last post if i could delete i certainly would, can i please rephase the last post. if anyone has two dreamboxes working in different rooms what would i expect to see in dreambox control centre i.e. would i see two different boxes connected to to two different pc's and two different routers.sorry if i've contravend website wont happen again
 
Each box needs to have a unique ip address.
 
hi i'm back again same probs i got another dm500s because i found out the first one was a dud hence all the problems but now when i try to get channels on the new box can only get fta i'm using home plugs to send signal upstairs the 3 lights on home plugs are on and solid but the port i'm plugged into in the router is showing orange i have been on dcc and search router and found home plug i.p. double clicked it and reconnected pc but the light remains orange i have another box downstairs and the port for that is green and the box is working fine any ideas what i'm doing wrong. cheers
 
If the network light isnt the correct colour it might either be another dud receiver or a faulty network cable. Swap the network cables around - if the problem moves box you have a faulty cable.
 
Oh and as Ive read back through the thread & remembered you are on a commercial card share Im closing this thread. Get your supplier to sort any more problems out. (It should have been done before but I missed it somewhere)
