dreambox jumping

help! my box keeps jumping/freezing. i have tried on both free to air channels and 'non' free to air channels, and they both seem to be the same, and help much appreciated
 
i have checked all cables going from tv - dreabox - router ect all seem fine.
sky sports news for example is fine but others jump frequently. the only thing i can think of is that my 2 year old snapped the two pin plug for my dreambox so i sourced another 12v power supply from an old freeview box, would this affect it? thanks

It would help if you can tell us:

1 - Image type and version used
2 - Dish pointing to which satellite
3 - Dish size
4 - Was everything working before and now it isn't, or is this a new setup
5 - Are on CS?
6 - Is your power supply and receiver getting abnormally hot
7 - Is your LNB working alright? Test this with another receiver, if you have one.
 
not sure about image type and version.
dish pointing to sky uk(used to have sky)
not sure on dish size(sky installed 2 years ago and its 30ft up)
the first box i got had a dodgy reciever in it and only picked up 570 services but the channels were fine, the new box picked up 1037 services but is now jumpy.
power supply and reciever are warm nothing out the ordinary
lnb is fine as i still have my sky plus box and if i conect it back up its fine
thanks for any help you can offer
 
I would say its dish alignment by the sounds of it.

What sort of signal are you getting?

I know your going to ask, Its in Menu -> 4

If you have anything showing on BER its a probable sign that the dish is out of alignment :mad:

snr : 94%
Agc :91%
BER : 0

when i scanned it said 89 transponders with 1037 services scanned, im pretty sure the dish is ok

It is important to know the image version.
Did you flash it yourself or it came with the receiver?
Are you on CS? Disconnect the LAN cable and see what happens.
Click on Menu > About and you should see your firmware version. (or something like this as I have a 7000S)
You can also try a factory reset, then scan only the FTA channels and see how they behave.
Then do another scan and check all

it came with the reciever, software version : Nabilosat DM500 v. 0.8,
yes im on c/s, if i do a factory reset do i then have to load on some software or something after scanning for fta channels if i want to view other channels

Don't do a factory reset, as you will lose the CS config.
Suggest to take it back to whoever sold you the receiver.
But first disconnect the LAN cable and see what happens.

All you need to do is get an ftp program, something like CuteFTP or you can use Dreambox Control center :D

If you are using CCcam all you need to do is look in Var/etc and save the following files onto your PC.

CCcam.cfg, CCcam.prio, CCcam.providors, CCcam.channelinfo.

Sometimes all the files are not used so they may or may not be all there. CCCam.cfg is the most important file that must be saved.

Use Dreamboxedit to save you channels and bouquets to your PC

you can find both DCC & Dreambox edit over at _www.i-have-a-dreambox.com

Jot down your IP settings (menu-6, Expert settings-> Communication settings) just in case you need to change them for your router settings.

Press the blue button to find out what ver of cccam you are running.


Do the system reset, reinstall CCCam (Same ver. as before if possible) from the blue button. then use Dreambox edit to reinstate your channels, and then finally send the cccam files back into the same folder as they were taken from originally.

Job done :D

LAN cable? i take it this is just the cable running from my satellite to my dbox? what should happen when i do this?

LAN = local area network - the cable to your router

If you disconnect the cable to the dish all your problems go away :D

im a :-newb no need to take the :-peepee

i think i might of fixed it by accident anyhow, when my box arrived it came with a cable with a red, white and yellow conectors on either end, i plugged them in to my tv and dbox in the corrasponding coloured sockets, i just pulled them out of my tele and the jumping appears to have stopped :p
