Slap me down if this is unreasonable, but could this be made to work? I have to admit that I've not ploughed my way through all the goodies in this section, or RTFM, but that's simply because I'd like to see if this is feasible before I invest the time and effort. I've got my 10/100 cat5-wired LAN in one part of the house, and the usual telly/home entertainment stuff in the lounge, and was considering building a 'media-centre' PC with wireless connection into my LAN. This would live beside the telly and provide satellite (mainly) and other media to my TV/home cinema amp etc. But then I'm thinking Dreambox! Ethernet-based software/firmware updates from my existing LAN and media-file transfer/streaming as well!?! Why re-invent the wheel, even though Micro$oft seem hell bent on doing just that? My networking and Linux skills are OK, but I don't know much about wireless. Anyone done it or see any insurmountable problems? Think I'd go for 11g over b 'cos it seems daft not to. Comments? Deafening silence? Histerical laughter?
