Assuming you are on a network with DB, then the IP is the one set in "setup" and "expert" and "communication".
Usually this is set to 192.168.0.24. Uncheck DHCP to keep it at the address you specify. Also uncheck the HTTP authentication in the expert settings.

I use DCC.exe as it can both FTP and telnet to the box.

Into menu,>set up>expert set up>communications set up>Uncheck box DHCP>
192.168.1.24>netmask>255.255.255.0>lan>195.168.1.1>192.168.1.1>check enable network box>port 80>save.
These are my settings so i put in 192.168.1.24 for all comunications with dreambox. You need a network cable from computer to dreambox as well and computer set up for network as well. Hope this is ok for you, read the guide and get more help there too. I know its better people showing you because somethings just stares in your face and you just cant see it.

What is the IP of your laptop? Are you using a crossover cable and not a straight patch cable?

Try changing the IP to 192.168.0.1 (if your dreambox is 192.168.0.24) with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 and hope your cable is the right type (sounds like it should be).

Let us know how it goes.

Can you ping the dreambox?

start/run/command then 'ping 192.168.0.24'

Get a response?

Ping 127.1.1.1 - response?

Check your Dreambox communications settings very carefully.
Compare to those in my wireless comms. guide for the DB if you're not sure.

Are you sure you're setting your PC's IP correctly?

start/control panel/network connections/ then select the network connection that's connected to the Dreambox, then right click, properties, highlight Internet Protocol, then propreties button. Select 'use the following IP address', set it to 192.168.0.1, set subnetmask to 255.255.255.0. Set default gateway to 192.168.0.1. Select 'use the following DNS server addresses' and enter 192.168.0.1 into the 'preferred DNS server' - leave the alternate server blank.

Save it and check it again - and using the ping routine.

Let us know.

Try a different FTP client. I like WS_FTP. Search out another recent thread on this using the powerful search function in the forum menu bar.

If you use the settings I mentioned above, then you just need to enable ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) on your ISP connection in Control Panel and your modem should work fine.

Try downloading Dreambox control center, its free and does good job. Im Using Cute 7.0 pro and had to return to DCC as it would not chmod the rdgst file to 755 for me but the DCC done it.
