Hi.
I am trying to find on google if anybody successfully put linux into this receiver.
It has many outputs and I would like to use it as films player at least.
Anybody can point me where to search?

AFAIK the only Sky HD+ box that a vaguely working system was ever successful on was the originl Sky Thomson HD+ box and I never heard pf it being completed. Althogh all the various Sky boxes had the same basic operating system their firmware all differed considerably. The DRX890W although it partially has open source software the major part of the firmware is proprietary software that would have to be completely rewritten from scratch to be legal - it would not be legal to merely hack it (although probably possible). Besides which loading the new firmware would either require finding the appropriate contacts/chip pins on the motherboard to solder jtg connector to OR desoldering a surface mount chip using an expensive proffessional soldering station, reprogrmming the chip and remounting it

Not worth any programmers time/effort as there are numerous better/esier alternatives to start from
