DVB-C Return signal

Hi.

I have a working Digit MF4-k with MRB system (Cable receiver).
Sometimes people question me about the return signal from this type of receivers. I don't know what to answer.

I mean, can the operator detect there is a "strange" mac address in the network?
And if so, can they trace it to where? Can they know that the "strange" mac address is connected to your cell in the street closet?

Can anyone share some knowledge on this?
