I often reimage my pc with with older versions of W7.The DVBDream version is usualy v2.6a which is fine .Unfortunatly I get pestered with the update box to update to the latest version. v2.7.4.
I get fed up with killing the update box and update.I did another reimage a few days ago getting pestered again to up date to v2.7.4,
I have been resisting for a while but getting fed up killing the update box.There is nothing wrong with the v2.7.4 version but it annoys the hell out of me that it insists that I update. I cannot find a way of stopping the update box coming up, is there a way to stop it.

Find out what site DVBDream is trying to connect to check for updates.
Create or edit the file \windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts and add a line:
127.0.0.1 checkforupdateserver.example.com
Works for Skype
( I am guessing the path to the hosts file is the same for xp and w7)

This is probably the file that dose it.I will delete it and see what happens.I am a sucker for punishment.

That didn't work.I deleted the upgrade file,rebooted the file was back.Popup still coming up.I will mess about a bit.Then do what I always do upgrade it.But like I said it is dammed annoying being forced to do it.

Sorted.It's in.
Options- Preferences-Update .Untick the box.

I'll stick with v2.6a for a bit now.
