All you have to do is send a NonPayingBidder notice to eBay, and if he doesn't pay up he gets a strike on his account (and if he has more then one, he gets kicked off!!! :D ) and you get your fees refunded, simple as that... :D

Cancel the sale, explain to ebay and they will not charge you, you can also leave a non-payer notice on him.

You wanted to say asswhole didn't you - uumm, I can feel it (pardon the pun). Thank g that you didn't post your goods before you saw a payment credit (I have no idea about Ebay - scares me shitless - only done it twice, hehehe).

Thanks to the replies in this thread I am better prepared for a similar situation and how to react. Thanks to all ;-))

Bought and sold quite a bit and only had two problems. The first was someone who was waiting for another sale to complete before paying me, but he did pay in the end. The second was a buyer who didn't reply to any Emails, so was concerned that he was going to claim non-delivery, but he didn't, however he didn't leave feedback either and feedback is very important for your ongoing business and credibility.

One more piece of advice

It takes 7 days or more to call the NPB into question after the auction ends.

Once you have confirmed to eBay he is a non paying bidder, close the negitiation period immediately, and make sure you tick the box that blocks the NPB from bidding on any of your other auctions.

Hahaha....i got confused when my boss once sent me an email several years ago and i didn't understand what FYI meant.

I thought it meant "F*** You Idiot" and i actually got in conflict with my boss why he was so pushy and naughty sending me emails like that.

After a few minutes he explained it meant "For Your Information"

Hahaha....

You have to be careful with cheques also.....I sold a camera; buyer paid by cheque so I waited 'til the money appeared in my bank, sent the item and went on holiday. Returned 1 week later to find the bank had taken the money back. It turned out to be a genuine mistake and buyer paid again and all ended happily, but worrying to think that you can't rely on a cheque clearing as proof that you've been paid:mad:

Yes, that is a very important point, cheques can be bounced several weeks after having been cleared, I wouldn't accept a cheque for anything but small value items.

It is true the banks have it all their own way these days we have accepted cheques with guarantee cards and proof of ID only for the buyer to telephone the bank an hour after saying they had lost their cheque book, result, the retailer loses out not the bank, we lost £350 in two days in April and are not accepting any more cheques from 1st January 2007
