Worst is yet to come Channel 4 is next! Same pattern as before first they start simulcasting on 2D transponder then in short while 2A-B frequency is gone! So kiss good bye to Big Brother and rest of the lot. Looks like five is only 'survivor' left at least until their contract with sky runs out that is, or maybe even sooner.

thats just great, that means Sky from overseas just got worst. Hope Sky talia will make the switch the Hotbird 7 and get it done with. The 2d transponder is pathetic. Might as well switch the whole Sky grid to 2d and get it over with.

Channel 4 contracted a 2D transponder months ago, so its hardly a surprise that they are moving all their services onto it.

Hotbird 7's primary mission is to replace Hottie 1, with the spare transponders covering for Hotties 2-4. Sky Italia isnt going anywhere for the near future.

I am still getting E4 in Cairo but not through the EPG. You can enter 11 565 V into "add channels" and get E4 Ireland. Film 4 is there too but I haven't tried that one yet. Dunno if they are going to move or not.

Many thanks for that - we now have E4 reception again and 'her indoors' is very happy! No sign of Film4 though - but is not a channel we used to watch anyway.

Can anyone who can receive the 2D transponder confirm if C4 simulcasts have started yet? I am wondering how long it will be until I lose my C4!

Well here in Cyprus we are still receiving E4 24/7 on 11565V, and so watching Big Brother etc live.
The adverts all seem to be directed at Republic of Ireland viewers, so is this a dedicated downlink perhaps for re-broadcasting there on terrestrial 'freeview'?
Are there any other such downlinks I wonder? With a digibox I cannot 'scan' the satellite bands to find any - but maybe someone with a full-facility receiver could do that for us and report back?
Regards C4 we are just hoping it will stay where it is for as long as possible, after which we (meaning I!!) may have to upsize our dish to get 2D.

Ireland doesn't have a freeview system but yes, that E4 is for Irish Sky subscribers and Irish cable companies.

Can this be received with any FTA box? I have an echostar - or do I need a Sky outfit - box and card etc.

Chief - very, very hot Toulouse - too hot for Widnes ;-))))

Simple answer is No - you need a paired S*y receiver and card.

The other answer is that you can mimic a S*y receiver using a dreambox, the official card can then be used in that box. The card would have to have been paired in a S*y receiver first.

Hi Guys

Im new to the forums and am interested to see that some people are still recieveing E4 in Cyprus. I have tried to add the channels as stated but I still do not recieve E4. Am I doing aything wrong or has the Irish E4 gone as well now?

Maybe Im doing something wrong?

I have accessed the "services" menu and then the "add channel" I type in the frequency and it brings up E4, bloomberg and another chinese channel I think. I select E4 to be stored and then I exit, but when I go to the E4 channel it still says no satelite signal recieved.

Should it be instant or does it take time to download? Should I be choosing a different channel or the existing E4 channel?

I have a 2.4m dish could this be the problem? Is it too small?

Thanks

You will need to view it through "other channels" not the EPG. Goto "Services" then "Other channels" E4 should be there.

You shouldn't have a problem Denis. Your dish is big enough - assuming it is aligned OK. If you get (e.g.) Ch4 on 104 OK then E4 on 'other channels, NOT off the EPG, should be fine. I'm watching now as I type this msg, I also have a 2.4m dish but in a worse reception area than you. If you still have problems get back to us - it'll be something simple that is wrong, not lack of signal.

Thanks guys for the help, the wife will be most impressed after I told her no more Big Brother ever!

I was trying to view it of the EPG but have found it in the "other channels" as suggested. Thanks again.
