hey peeps i seen some random vids on youtube (yes i was on that part of youtube again lol) of ear cleaning being done in vietnam, china and india,
so it got me thinking would you get it done?

yes this is a pretty random thread lol

Well I would certainly not entertain such a dangerous practice unless you were happy to go away with perforated eardrums. stupidity personified

yea i was thinking that but also hygiene would be a problem too
 
I've had cute and chronic ear infections for over four months.

Recently, the GP Practice Nurses used the modern equivalent of syringing to try to remove impacted debris, with only limited success.

The reason for the limited success is the relatively weak nature of the irrigation device - deliberately weak so as to minimise risk of damage.

One of the Nurses wanted to refer me for Microsuction (But I didn't fancy her) and the other thought it too risky.

Fortunately, I built upon the limited success of the irrigation by intensive application of Olive Oil and have shifted it all.

On the mend now :Y
 
I tried a Waterpik in mine once, nothing happened.

Must try olive oil, at least I can re-use it.
 
My mother in law is currently in hospital with a perforated ear drum, she has been in agony for days not good

Yep I was given one by a schoolteacher when 9 years old, it is bloody painful, I have to be in sympathetic mode ATM as my wife has had ear ache for about 6 weeks now and has finished her 2nd course of antibiotics with little or no improvement, her GP says she should contact her dentist :-wow:-wow
 
I had an earwax problem last year and used the spray and 'otospoons' from this company...

Wax Removal

The spray is effective but requires a few applications to work well. The 'spoons' are not as good and I found them only slightly better than a cotton bud. I'd try olive oil first....
 
One thing I do not recommend is a sinus rinse, twice I tried that and both times it went inside my ear.

Must have had terrible aim if they put it in your ear and not your nose... :-rofl2

Not really the throat and inner ear are connected by the eustachian tube, this is what equalises the pressure behind the eardrum with the outside air pressure which is why one swallows to equalise the pressure by opening up the tube,especially when flying

Yeah and I have broken one I think, I've had vertigo/disequilibrium for coming up to 6 years now. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.
No escape from it, wakes me up during my sleep as well.

Had inner ear problems since I was a kid and was supposed to have gromits fitted but mum didn't like that idea so it didn't happen.

ENT are telling me its neurological, doctors are saying its inner ear. No one knows, just hope they fix it one day.

A few years back I had an ear infection, itched like hell. The chemist told me to try Sterimar Hygiene Nasal Spray. Head one side, spray some in, give the ear a rub and give it a wipe with tissue. After a few goes you could sense it tricking down the back of your throat. Worked a treat.
 
My ears are easily upset. Otex ear drops destroyed my balance for a couple of days and I had to stop using ear buds because they gave me vertigo too. There's a site on the web where people recount being sent to specialists etc. for balance problems before they realized it was the earbuds causing their problems. If your hearing is not affected leave them alone.
