Hello, I have TBS 5927.

Where i can find some tips for using EBS Pro? Stephan wrote some very nice tricks for low SR here, but where i can find some other? I googled, but nothing found... only basic using.

1) What are for example differencies between Alpha, Beta... etc.?

2) What means OTFS and the parameters there?

3) Why is BLScan2 faster and is not possible step in MHz to use?

4) Can i use some configration file for EBS with "Predefined Ranges"? Or do i have to all make manual? It is stored only in some closed database storage, or can i edit it from some other software? I have Lyngsat in Excel so would be nice to do this ranges automatic in excel makro, but where are EBS ranges located...? And generally - do you know some website with Ranges of all satellites? Not Lyngsat with freqeuncies, but ranges

5) I use VLC and TSReader for video. Why some transponders are detected in EBS, and has no information in TS Reader? I have for exmpale a lot of detected TP on 60E, but only 3 are with video stream. Some others (not all i found) are on flysat reported as DATA, but how can i reconize, it is data or some QRM (noise)? And has noise SR a moduletion, or it is EBS issue? - example on picture. Not listed on Flysat, no data in TS Reader. So this TP should i manually put to blacklist?

THANK YOU!

TBS Newbie:-)

PS: I hope this thread helps to other newbies with PC Cards:-)

Your questions look like from advanced user and dx'er :)

1. EBS Pro now free and finalized. No any Alpha, Beta and etc :)

2. i don't know :)

3. BLScan2 is some alternative vendor-specific blindscan algo (with fast edge detection and etc). Usual require start-stop freq and go on :) For STV091x-based devices is prefered instead "dumb" BLScan (step-by-step blind search algo, original for STv090x).

4. stored in some standard windows ini files @ $(APPDATA)\EBSpro\ranges\*.ini

5. First see DVB-S2 stream type - your device can pass only transport stream. TSReader can parse MPE over TS, is some old standard for IP over DVB TS. Another detected generic continous or packetized DVB-S2 streams usual always marked as DATA.

Hello dishdx

OTFS means On The Fly Scan.
It was an experiment carried out by the developer 6 years ago in which the RF values in dBm were taken into account to detect the presence of feeds and save scanning time

Hello! Many thanks to all of you for your time! Thanks CrazyCat i located ranges/profiles ini files in my pc. Good to know this folder - i want to share it between two PCs - it very helps me. Is possible to change the path? Probably not..

But my newbies questions continues, sorry! :-)

1) When i tune on ABS 75E 12533H and 12587H - mongolian muxes. In SmartDVB and also in TSReader i can´t see SERVICE NAMES. Why? My OCTAGON SX88 read NAMES of this two muxes with no problem! Where is the problem? Why is SX88 better? Should i use another TS Reader? Or do i need some plugin to SmartDVB? (Screen attached)

2) I still don´t know why is here difference between SR listed on Lyngsat/Flysat and my blindscan. For example 44996 and flysat says 45000. I know that is same, but i would be rather to see in scan the same values as are reported. Where is problem? :-)

3) I still dont know where is advantage for DXer in TBS card. Octagon SX88 do the blindscan on 75E in 2:20, EBSPro BLScan2 runs 3:23 mins and the result is still "only" list of TP not Channels. When i run complet blindscan with channels search on smartDVB it takes 6:09 (3 x slower than SX88). (Screen attached).
Of course, Octagon doesn´t find SR below 1500 and doesn´t read below SR 900 and has not 4:2:2 online decoding and has not RFScan. But all other jobs do very good. I only want to understand why is TBS receiver so cool stuff for dxers :-)

Tahnk you and have a nice day!

Good DX!

1. Look like some exotic mongolian character set for names.
2. STV091x specific issue. But transponder list usual have "rounded" SR values (at lease in my CS)
3. use BLScan2 mode in SmartDVB also

...

1.I made a test with DVB Dream on the mongolian muxes and here that the player finds the service name/channels.

3.An enthusiast should have all the tools at hand to exploit his passion.By now there is no satellite receiver that can cover all these needs. There are many receivers on the market that have features that others do not have. For example, your Octagon SX88 has something in addition to the other receivers, even the card dvbs, but you yourself confirm that it has certain limits.
Unfortunately all of the receivers come on the market ready-made,meaning they have a certain hardware that can no longer be changed unless you do a different receiver. In this area,as in others, technology is changing quite quickly, so a manufacturer does not dare to risk introducing new technologies if the market is not ready. For example,Multistream is transmitted by satellite by many years and only in the last years has been assimilated by the receiver manufacturers. Not to mention other features, modulations in 16/32APSK, low symbol rates, etc,and the most sought function, blindscan,is not up to the level and sophistication of a dvbs card.In short,no receiver has so much flexibility as a dvbs card to meet the changes in the field of satellite and cable transmissions. For this reason,TBS has kicked off since the beginning of 2010,best adapting to new market demands, diversifying its products although there are other dvbs cards on the market, such as Omicom, Prof7301, TTS2-1600 PCI, etc,
But what made tbs cards to be successful for dxers was undoubtedly due to the applications made by @CrazyCat,and,then,from his mantle, other developers came out.I hope I'm not wrong if I say that without his contribution,I don't know if success would have been so quickly and fully.
Another reason why these cards are sought by enthusiasts is that they are not expensive.A professional satellite receiver or a professional dvbs card costs thousands of euros and,on the other hand they are dedicated to certain operations without having important functions for us,for instance,Blindscan..And besides that, the applications used are proprietary and may not be used, except with the consent of the manufacturer if you pay them, which also cost a few hundreds or thousands of euros. That's why we need to be grateful to @CrazyCat and other programmers who provide us with their applications for free.
So today tbs cards can meet the needs of an enthusiast that no receiver is able to offer. For this, search time/blindscan is less important if the tuner is able to lock any signal, even the weakest although it can be set in the used tools(crazyscan, ebs, etc)

Is possible to solve for example with updated driver "difference between SR listed on Lyngsat/Flysat and in blindscan"? - i have on all tps SR 29997 instead of 30 000.... It doesn´t look nice...

CrazyCat wrote - It is " STV091x specific issue. But transponder list usual have "rounded" SR values (at lease in my CS) ". It is true that exported tp list is rounded, but SR in graph in Crazyscan or table with TPs in EBS Pro is not rounded. Would be nice to solve it in drive if it is possible??

... but it is probably only my mental problem:-)

@dishdx
The value of the SR as the value of the frequency are dependent on many factors (heat, LNB, time), and they are not stable and change continuously.
To want at all costs a rounded value can cause problems for the search for frequencies close to each other.
Why do you consider that 30000 is better than 29997?
it reminds me of the discussion in November 2017 where someone was traumatized because the frequency values did not correspond to the values of lyngsat or kingofsat
here is an example where a rounded value can cause problems.

Our colleague @stephan94 explained how certain physical factors affect the value of the frequency.Technically speaking,it does not matter as long as the signal is detected and then locked. It is important that the application does not give fake frequencies and parameters!
In fact,CrazyCat has given the true explanation, valid for many dvbs cards that give some incongruent information.
A perfect driver should solve all the bugs a demod has,but that does not happen, and we have to get used to it. As we are used with "bugs" in our minds :), with all that we are trying to get rid of them when we find them :)

Yes, I was posting Multistream channels here courtesy of my TBS6925 card using Crazyscan in 2011. First one I think was from the TIMB mux on 12.5W (LA7 3D Test).
DVBDream gave us MIS access later (2013).

Hello! I have noticed strange thing... The Blindscan in EBS and also in CrazyScan tune in direction TOP-DOWN.... so for C band from 4,2 to 3,4.... I don´t know why?? RF Scan run normally from 3,4 to 4,2 but blindscan has oposite direction??

This is normal for band C.
With all devices (card or receiver) it works with the C band always this way.
Sometimes the receiver takes portions of the tape and scans them one after the other (sx88), but that's
always in downhill direction (4200 to 3400)
It has nothing to do with EBSpro or crazyscan; it's general with band C.

Thank You Stephan for explain!

And another, for me unexpleined issue in blindscan on 68.5 C Band. It alway miss NHK Mux on 3841H. See screen... With direct tuning in SmartDVB mux normally plays.... Where could be problem? I used BLScan2 and BLScan with OTFS with various steps... and alway miss...

Thank you:-)

Hi! What SW do you use for play of Low Symbol rate streams? Smart DVB and Dream DVB Crashes on SR below SR 500 :-( I found only one possible way and it is CrazyScan-> TSReader/VLC. EBS crashes too. Tested on 23.5E, SR 285 and 477.
