Here is the internals of my AD3000IP Viaccess..
Curiously a totally different pcb .
U201 is in a different spot ..and is a different device..
but equivalent ?

Yes, of course. Later version with Viaccess. Same PSU though.

The OP Harper had the non-Viaccess version.

Are the chips directly interchangeable ?
Are the contents/firmwares the same ?
Which version has the OP got ..as this may be crucial.

this thread started with Harper ..but the eprom issue wasn't him asking ..so

Thegoal007 says it's the Viaccess model, so I guess the EEPROM is the same as yours. If that's the case the segment fault in the bad batch of EEPROMS used in the AD3000ip would most likely not apply. So I would think the PSU is the most likely problem (perhaps...)

If psu ..perhaps he could 'have-a-go' his self ..

Don't see why not, just basic tools needed. A visual check of the electrolytics, and a multimeter to check the DC voltage lines out of the PSU (they're printed on the PSU board).
Secondary (DC) side only of the PSU. He must keep well way from the high-voltage primary side. Don't want a funeral this side of Christmas :eek:
 
I wont be able to pop down and see the receiver until the weekend. From what i have been told he says its now suddenly working, but does occasionally loop around and never starts up and never shows any error on display. I get the feeling he may be looking at getting the unit replaced. He's old (pensioner) and a bit impatient, can't do much until i have a visual inspection on the weekend.
 
I think they were pretty good receivers back in their day but they are DVB-S only, right?
 
the machine looks like is going into hibernation. He has just signed up and had installed the Greek OTE family pack with new dish and 'their own' box.
