Eliptical dish query

My Satellite Setup
SPIDERBOX 9000HD, 1.2 and Humax Foxsat HD,Hitachi L500HDD
Acer Aspire 5315 Lappy
My Location
torfaen south wales
Hi guy,s, i have purchased a 1.2m x 1.0m eliptical mesh dish,1.2 is the height, i wondered if the eliptical shape or the mesh construction of the dish would need any different fitting than a normal round dish in relation to alignment offsets etc, or am i thinking too much !! (OLD HEAD!!)

The dish is not classed as elliptical, but circular.

The height of the dish being greater than the width is standard for normal offset dishes.

It is that shape so that the dish looks like a circle when seen from the satellites.

Is the dish actually mesh?, or does it just have lots of small holes in it?

What Make/Brand of Dish is it?

If it is an unusual one, do you have a piccy?

Sorry no pics yet, its 50% refurbished, in a real mess when i picked it up, lnb arm needed welding and dish has been stripped for respraying will post pics tomorrow.

I didn't realize that you could get perforated dishes that large. But if it just like a standard offset dish, but with perforations, then alignment etc would be straightforward. The photo woul be useful.

Hi guys, photo as requested, dish is 98% finished de-dinted,
resprayed and technomate .2db lnb fitted, guess how much it cost me at a boot sale ????

Its just a normal offset dish with holes in it, stick it up, swivel it around a bit, and you're sorted.:)


A bargain at 4 quid.

This is a Lenson Heath not in production anymore the bottom of the lnb arm normally rust away then the lnb drops normally a solid this size mesh is rare

Yes, there were also some rumours when the gain of these dishes was questioned in a European article that some clones of the dish were in circulation that had a feed arm that was the wrong length.

Thanks Gaza, the bottom of the lnb arm had almost rusted through hence the need to plate and weld, not a lot of work but worthwhile i think,

Hi Channelhopper,what would be the set up problem if this is a "clone"

The lNB would not be at the focal point, and thus give a lower gain.
