EMM in DM500s Server

I've got a couple of questions about EMM's that I can't find answers to.

If I have a dreambox setup with MGCamd + NewCS, does the channel that the dreambox is tuned to affect the process of updating EMMs? i.e, if the dreambox is tuned to a freeview channel will it still update the card?

Can MGCamd still receive and send EMMs to NewCS when it's in standby mode?

I have a DM500s clone setup to serve my Win7 PC (which uses Acamd 0618). Currently Acamd is set up to send EMM's and NewCS is recording that it has received EMM's.

I have noticed that the entitlement dates have not changed, I am expecting them to last about another month though.

Ideally I would like to have the DM500s server connected to the LNB as well and using MGCamd to send the EMM's. I want the dreambox to stay in standby mode though and not hammer the card unnecessarily with ECM's.
 
More details please like which card you are talking about???

Some cards will not update under certain emus so its a question that cannot be answered until we know which card your on about.

Hes in Auckland so it'll almost certainly be Sky Kiwi in NDS.
 
Nah know foo* all about their cards :D

I can only advice about cards i know about. Since your on the other side of the planet its unlikely that i will ever come into contact with a Sky Kiwi card :-DOH!

From what I read the card can be updated with the right combination of software (not sure I have the right combo at the moment)

What I'm more interested in is whether it's theoretically possible for any card to update if the unit is in standby and not tuned to a pay channel? are the EMMs encoded into the same stream as the video or are they somehow separate to all that?
