Hi Iam very new to this so please be patient. I have manually installed 3 emus and installed some keys. I still get nothing. Can anyone tell me how i find out if the emulators are running, or how i choose an emulator to run.
At the moment when i press blue on remote I get gbox and common interface

What image are you running, which Emus have you installed and how, plus which satellites and channels are you trying to view?

Have you installed satanskeybundle?

Best to include this info in your profile.
 
Manually installing an emu is asking for trouble (and it looks like it has failed).

Either setup your box with internet access or FTP the .tar.bz file of the emu into /tmp and do a manual install.

Hi Thankx so much for taking the time to reply.

I have a colosseum image, and have installed satankeybundle. I did exactly as recommended and ftpd the emu into the tmp directory, then pressed blue button on remote and did manually install. It said install succesfull (or something to that effect) I am trying to view polsat 16e.

Another strange problem I have now is when i try to view any channels it always starts common interface instead of gbox, although i have worked out how to stat dreambox. I just cant figure how to start the other emus.

your help is sincerely appreciated
 
Have you setup the auto-cam part e.g. set the default emu or the emu on a by channel or provider basis?

I've not used Collosseum so not sure if that part if the same as Gemini.
 
yeah Ive tried that,but I only seem to get the choice of Common Interface or Gbox2.1 Im presuming the other emus should b there. If I go to remove addons it lists mgcamd 1.12a & NEWCS 1.17 RC10 but they dont seem to be running.

Having dug a little deeper, it would appear the emus are not installing properly They are listed in the VAR/BIN directory but I cant get them to run even when I tellnet into the box

Iam tempted to wipe it and put the Gemini image on, as it seems to be what everyone is using, however having never done it before Im a little frightened I will mess it up completely.

After you've messed it up for the 10th time it becomes easier ;)

The other way is to connect your Dreambox to the internet and try a Blue Button install (which puts a .tar.bz file into /tmp and installs it from there automatically).
Did you download the emu from Collosseum?
 
Hi the box is connected to the net, Ive tried doing an install like that, but it just says failed to get catalogue. I didnt dload the emu from collosseum. Do u think that may be the problem ?

Ok I have decided to put a new image on, and again ran into a few problems. Firstly I tried usind the Root.cramfs method, however when I press munu, setup, expert set up there is nothing about software update. So I then tried dream up using the Lan. I turned my box of restarted with the +button pressed. The router gave my box an address and dreamup does not progress any further. I have also tried restarting with button pressed and then using browser to connect to the box and get DM7020 bootloader Web Interface. I click on firmware update and it ask me for the nfi file. I loaded that and then again nothing. I just get page cannot be displayed on browser and no mods are made to the box.


Should I go and buy an rs232 cable ?
 
If the ethernet connection is showing the bootloader, then yes, you probably need the null modem cable, always worth having one anyway. :)
 
Ok i have sucessfully flashed by box with PLI Image evrything is workin pretty well except I cant use my original digialb card. When I go to Upper slot information & Lower slot information it says no card detected in slot. I am using GBOX for digialb
 
Gbox is something else

U use it if U are sharing cards

if not use a better cam, like cccam
 
I always used gbox for my digialb card I ve tried mgcamd & evocamd and none of them will work. iL give cccam a go/ Still doesnt explain y box doesnt see card in either slot though
 
With Pli the download is only the script so you need to add the bin file and config for gbox with the config you can configure the card reading options.
I would still go for CCcam if you are not sharing:cool:
 
Why don't you try Gemini to get started? After you get a bit familiar with everything you could try a few of the more exotic images.

Guess what I now have Gemini on with everything working. It so satisfying to get it all up and running. My digialb card is working a treat with CCCam although it still wont work with GBox which is definately installed correctly, but I can live with that for now..

Nice to hear you have Cccam up and running. gBox is a bit of a strange one however it is still quite an effective emu even though its getting on a bit :toke: Although i must admit when i have to update my Digitalb card i do have to switch over to Cccam as for some unkonwn reason its stopped updating under gBox :(

Once you've installed it manually a few times you will soon get the hang of it. Unfortunately i've not seen it as a DL from the blue button since the likes of Nabilosat v0.6. gBox was never meant to be public so i think there were some complaints from the team that created it and it was removed from the DL on most images :-ohcrap

As said before different images require different installation and different startup scripts which is what makes it so awkward to install sometimes.

I've given up getting it to run on Nemesis 3 :-DOH! Runs a treat on everything else though :-laugh

To get gbox to run you need to make sure all the required config files are in place. You will need to ensure that in Var/Keys that your gbox.cfg, cwshare.cfg (This can be an empty file if your not card sharing), Ident.info & ignor.list are there :-DOH2

In Var/Script you will need you start up files like gbox_startup.sh & gbox_cam.sh (from Gemini)

Finally in Var/bin you will need the gBox file itself.

Make sure you chmod the new gbox files to 755 or its not going to work

To find out what its doing you will need to install something like gbox centre. Once thats all installed reboot your box and gbox should work.

Hi Nano many thanks for the Info. I will go through it properly when I get past my current problem lol. I have reflashed the box with gemini image and everything working ok aprt from 16e. As mentioned before I have a digialb card and everythimg was fine. Since reflashing I just cant get more that 80 snr and I keep geting over 6000 ber. I was wondering about my dish and motor but its only a few months old. I have tried Manual transponder scan & Automatic transponder scan, but to no avail.

Anyone have any ides

Changing the image should not affect the disecq. if you can't get a good signal from your dish then either you put in the wrong lat/long coordinates or your dish has moved a bit. Did you try to manually move the dish a little bit to the left or right using the remote?
Also, can you easily get to the dish?
 
Well i put on the same Long/Lat as before when it all worked. Im not sure how to move the dish with remote. Yes i can get to the dish easily.
