enigma 2 webinterface - what can it and what can't it?

Hello hello,

on my dm800hd I'm using pli image.
On my pc (using IE7) I type _http://192.168.x.y to get access to enigma 2 webinterface.
The webcontrol works, for instance I can switch my dm 800 hd on and off, but no pictures are shown, only 'loading image'.
So I am wondering, what are the options of enigma 2 webinterface? If image should be displayed on my pc, settings need to be corrected.

You can stream video from your Dreambox to your PC using VLC.

Install VLC on your computer, then go to the webinterface of your box. There should be an option there to allow you to stream to PC.

I use neither Pli nor Enigma2 so cant tell you the exact buttons to press in the webinterface . If you post a screen grab of the webinterface we can probably see from there.
 
Did you try search? VLC is often discussed and there are plenty of threads on it.

VLC Media Player = videolan.org
 
Dont use the latest version of vlc, version 086d is the one you want
 
thanks, I now have VLC installed

what I did was:
- streaming assistant
- choose streaming over the network
- for the stream I chose http address of my dm800hd
- as streaming method I chose http
- and gave static IP of my pc
but no success so far

for this reason I would highly appreciate some hints on how to configure

Its nowhere near that complicated to stream from the Dreambox to the PC.

With most E1 images, its just a case of clicking the VLC button in the web interface and allowing the download file to open in VLC.

With E2 I think you can do it by right clicking on the channel name in the web interface.

in that case I prefer to make the E2 webinterface work properly.
Now it shows "loading image" on the place where streamed image from dm800hd should appear. At the button of screen is written "waiting for updates from http://192.168.2.2/web/".

Seems dreambox settings need to be changed?

Can you please post a screen grab.

(While the WebIF is loaded in your browser, hold the Alt button and press 'Print Screen' on your keyboard to copy a grab of the active window to the clipboard, then paste into Paint or similar).

I've never managed to get VLC streaming to work inside the browser as you are trying to do. I download a .M3U file from the webif and open this in VLC, so the stream plays independently from the browser in VLC.

I hoped that I could point you to the correct button by seeing a screen grab, but I dont see one. From memory, I think you need to go to the channel browser/switcher in the webif, select/zap the channel you want to stream, then right click it to download the .m3u file.
