EPG Problem In Cyprus

My cousin in Cyprus reports he has today lost the EPG, is this perhaps because of the introduction
of the 1N satellite?
Anyone know of an alternative EPG date downlink channel please, on 2A, 2B, or 2C?
 
In the first instance, it might be of use to reboot the box(es) by disconnecting from the mains for a good few seconds.


Also, although you're always welcome to ask questions on your cousin's behalf, we're an International Forum and would welcome him as a Member on his own account, if that would be of us to him?
 
Could you remind us what his sytem is please? Does he have a $ly box or a Freesat box? The EPGs are carried differently for the two of them although I don't think Freesat should have been affected as that's om Eurobird.

She has a SKY+ HD box (Amstrad) and a 2.4m dish, with single LNB.

So try the reboot first :)

11.778V carried the default EPG, another stonger southern beam 12.207 V carries a cut down version.
 
Always try the reboot first - a digital receiver is little more than a small computer and everyone knows haw flaky your home computer can be :D

The biggest difference to the Cypriots today should be the total loss of the BBC services.

If you try the changing the default frequency trick be aware that if the receiver gets the slightest sniff of the northern beam frequency it will automatically switch back, so you might find it needs doing regularly depending on what the relevant signal strengths are on the dish / receiver combination.
 
Because the default frequency 11.778 is weak during the day ,I set most digiboxes for 12.110 H . Which,for us, is the strongest transponder (SKy sports). The boxes that remember this setting after a power cut come on straight away. Those that go back to 11.778 ,in the afternoon,and in bad weather, are stuck "searching for listings".
You can tell if you are receiving 11.778 when Sky intro is working and you get background music when you go to services.

Sorry about the unwarranted assumption of gender ............ Should know better :-DOH!

(Although Post #1 does say "he" ??)



Anyway, it is still worth trying a reboot first before anything else.
