Eumetsat access licences now free

I think all Dimensions of the era were same spec, I'm still using a half case E521 in the office that doesn't look different side by side.
Spec says a bigger PSU capacity, but not much else but the chassis has a lot of metalwork so the shielding will do me well for the SDR stuff that failed dismally in the laptop last year

This 9150 though is virtually silent fan wise and has the full-fat video card in the slot, so the 8920 card should be a doddle.

Rats !

Just noticed my spare keyboard and mouse are both PS2.

My dedicated PC is built ..
The optiplex 990 core i5 3.1ghz with 8gb ram ..
I managed to get win7 64bit OS in there ...
sadly only takes a single hard drive ..so opted for a 2tb drive partition for the OS at 300gb ...and nearly 1.6gb data partition.
...
Got Digi247 (Ged) coming next week to replace my 60cm fixed dish with an 80cm tuned for 10E
Climbing ladders atm is not an option for me..
then its just the wait for the TBS5927.
Hopefully soon I'll get some pretty whole earth images.

I received a response earlier today from the Eumetsat help desk. There has been a heavy demand for the sticks so delivery could be over a fortnight away.

I also ticked the volcanic ash data, since it looked interesting in terms of combining it with the flight data if I ever get it installed in the same machine, but they said it was restricted to partner organisations only (NMS).

So my dongle and CD is on the way at last and will be delivered tomorrow whohoo !. The Lawyer who deals with approving each application has been off sick btw hence the delay coupled with the massive backlog due to everything being free from this year... Hope imo my poor signal quality and strength is good enough though ?

Hooray! Great news Dave :)

Im looking forward to start playing with this - roll on the Easter holidays when I'll have time to do some modifications to the lnbs rigged on the 13E dish to get a set up for 10E.

I had an email today, looks like there is no delay in getting the actual equipment, just the legal bit regarding licensing (proably 'cos He/She's ill).
It seems it will still work with unlicensed stuff upon receiving, but I wonder what that will be?

Anyone know why I can't connect ? All setup ok it seems with username and password as sent in the email so don't quite understand it. Bizzare. Perhaps my signal is not good enough

My dongle is still over a week away so can't help.

What is your signal level from the satellite transponder ? Can you get other receivable channels from 10E ?

I get probably most what is on 10E, I say most as I have an old LNB and an old TBS 5925 receiver which I plan to replace with a 5927 soon.... I wonder if this signal level / quality is good enough...

If it is an older style LNB you might find stability is an issue.

I got confirmation late yesterday my package has been despatched by Eumetsat

Yes well at the moment I just can't connect, maybe this is why plus the not very good signal imo anyway. Let me know if you connect ok, are you setup now with 10 East ?

I certainly have 10 East on the steerable system. Using a standard definition receiver at the moment so just a couple of feeds atm.

The 8920 is sitting in the pc case, I found a Win 7 premium dvd in the boxes a couple of nights ago so I will most likely go with that, unless somebody sells me the virtue of win10.

Win10 has no redeeming features whatsoever.

That does it then, Win 7.

The stick and disc arrived about two hours ago. :p

My problem is getting hold of a win7 pro 64bit installation disc ...
I have an unused genuine MAK key ..but only have a 32bit installation disc
@Vipersan
If you still haven't got a 64 bit disc, then available on fleabay for less than a fiver.

Just had an email today that my License has been granted, but my hardware hasn't been sent out yet, as they had to order the key and needs to be tested first. I guess they must be a bit inundated atm then :D
