Turkish satellite operator Turksat with his French counterpart, Eutelsat announced an agreement that will allow the May 2014 move the satellite Eutelsat 33A of position 33 ° E to 31 ° E, which will be used by the operator Turksat.

Eutelsat will continue to provide its services at position 33 ° E and by satellite for Eutelsat 33B, which was moved to this position in the previous month. Eutelsat 33B is a former satellite Eutelsat 25C, operated at position 25.5 ° E for the needs of the countries of the Middle East and North Africa.

Turksat currently operates two satellite at 42 ° E and during the first quarter of 2014 placed at this location Turksat 4A and during the second quarter of next year, Turksat 4B on position 50 ° E.

" We are delighted that our relationship with Turksatem to the next level with the new arrangement at 31 ° E , "said Michel de Rosen, Chairman and CEO of Eutelsat.

Sounds like another Turksat placeholder on 31 East, probably just one transponder showing the great "TURKSAT TANITIM" promo. And with some luck maybe the odd feed.

Eutelsat 33A, the former e-bird/Eurobird 3, is the same spinner-type bus like Astra 2D, and was launched Sep 2003 with 10 years design lifetime...

Eutelsat 33A is on the move and could be at about 31° East tomorrow.

33A now stable at 30.85 East.
(31.0 is already occupied by Hylas 2)
Waiting for the new name... 31A I guess?

33A Beacon at ~30.9 (can't do an exact reading, positioner pulse setting too coarse).

Other peak is some spillover from 33E, 11325H.

Name indeed became Eutelsat 31A, location is 30.8° East.
Eutelsat site says inclined orbit, but right now inclination is still small (0.1°).

Plenty of power over the UK :)

Now need to get a dish on 31E!

nah - wheres the fun in that when Ive got a coupel of dishes doing nothing?

Ahem ........................ MOTOR!!!!

Nah.

Dish farms are far superior.

All the broadcasters have them. That says it all. ;)

Someone tell Flysat they have Eut 31A in the wrong place in the main satellite grid :D

For weeks I'm trying Flysat to make corrections in the Sat List, but it's his lowest priority and it's getting quite frustrating.
But I'll send a reminder and tell about the 33A to 31A renaming as well!

That helped, all is updated already!
