How can i convert my barograph measurement (a %) into Dbs?
how much would 50% or 85% be?
On Enigma-2 receivers it depends on which skin you use.

Percentage figures differ between receivers so there's no simple calculation. You could work out the minimum dB for lock for various transponders and then see what lowest % figure the receiver will show before losing lock. Therefore if a transponder requires 7.9dB for lock and the receiver shows 50% before losing lock then 50% = 7.9dB, maybe. Do that for a few transponders and you may see a pattern.

Problem is that,I need very few Dbs when the beam is sent to me (astra hotbird,9E,astra 2) and much more when the beam aims at other people (7w,26E) in one case,30% will suffice(Astra2) ,in other cases i ll need 60%,as with Hotbird's Bulgarian beam.,7w's Middle East
-On 10E,I get Comores with 30%
-on 7w,I need 60% for TV Maghreb

Which value you need depends on which technique is used and the FEC.
DVB-S2 8PSK needs a stronger signal than DVB-S and DVB-S2 QPSK.
FEC 2/3 needs less than 5/6 or 7/8.
This is shown in the table above.

The Bulgarian channels are transmitted using DVB-S2 8PSK and FEC 5/6 which is much harder to get than a channel transmitted using DVB-S and FEC 2/3.

Don't know if they'll use 8PSK or QPSK.Today the use both!
11386 H/V, 11426 V on Astra 2E use DVB-S2 QPSK but most DVB-S2 use 8PSK since it's more efficient.
 
Seems it is just a matter of good dish pointing and skew calibration...

I am from argolis, northern pelloponnese, greece and I have 16.8dB on 12636V (the weakest one) and 17.2-17.8dB on 12713V (the strongest one) on a 100x130 no name dish

Yes, here, Alicante, skew on the transponders involved make a win/lose choice.....:Y

in what way more efficient? does the signal carry further?

To put it very simple 8PSK uses less bandwidth than QPSK for the same data rate.

I m using a Comag double tuner & a monobloc 6°
 
That didnt last very long, but now we know there is a steerable superbeam available at 13E!
 
During last month, the inactive Hotbird 13E moved a bit (and stable now) to 12.8°E.
I guess vivacom tested on old bird that mentioned above #468
Absolutely not 13g&13f , there's no super beam on f/g

Do you have proof from a reliable source there is no superbeam on E & F? Because all the evidence we have seen points towards it being these two

Thats not proof & means nothing - satellite companies have been distorting the truth about satellite beams as long as Ive been in the hobby - over 20 years. The absence of information about a beam in official documentation doesnt mean it isnt there.

Or the other way round happens as well. Famously Arabsat had a completely ficticious MBC beam listed on Badr 4 for many years for sole use by the MBC channels on one transponder which was limiting coverage to the Middle East. It was bollox - I could get those channels at exactly the same strength as the others on Badr 4 in southern Scotland :-rofl2

It makes total sense this could have been a test with the old HotBird 13E at 12.8°E.
Indeed the (now empty) transponders peak about 0.2° to the West for me, compared with 12597V and 12692H from 13.0°E.
HotBird 13E also has just one wide beam, during the test they may have skewed it to the East gradually.
The beam at the West side has a rather sharp edge.
Maybe others with a larger dish can try to pinpoint better than me.

Kinda tempted to agree given that I just threw a small dish at 13e and got decent reception on the Vivacom TPs vs the rest, I'd say I was aligned a bit more towards 12.8-9 degrees than 13e.
