Eutel W3B is due to be launched tomorrow night from Kourou in French Guiana She is due to slot at 16E - replacing Eutel W2M, Eurobird 16A & Sesat 1.

Launch window is:
Between 9:51 p.m. and 11:01 p.m. on October 28, 2010 GMT times so 2251 uk time.

Web coverage normally starts about 20 minutes before the launch window opens

If you have never seen an Ariane 5 launch its well worth watching one - its a lovely sight as the rocket races away into the night sky.

Theres normally a feed on 5W for anyone who wants to watch via satellite direct from Kourou, although at the moment Ive forgotten the frequency.

When is it due to enter full service?



For anyone who hasn't seen a launch before, delays are very common indeed, sometimes for minutes, sometimes hours, sometimes days!
 
Assuming everything goes smoothly tomorrow Id guess early January.

They might just about make the end of the year but that would be pushing things, and the Christmas shutdown will be getting in the way - you dont want to be doing a complicated satellite swap with only a skeleton staff in the office!

Oh excellent. Nice find :D

Its tagged as Launch W3B and had a VERY interesting testcard on it - the coloured bar pattern is moving backwards & forwards!
 
According to Arianespace they will be going live around 22.30 UK time.

They are currently running a feature which has video of the satellite being built.
 
Ah its got some coverage rehearsals on . Once and only once a few years ago I saw the practise run of the launch - where they do everything except light the rocket motors

They have lost it, we will now have to wait for W3C sometime in 2011.
 
Oh dear ............... expensive business this.

They should learn from Blue Peter : "Here's one I made earlier"
 
Its early yet but if shes in a stable orbit they might be able to get her up to geosynch orbit by using the stationkeeping onboard thrusters - or they might just bring her down into the Pacific like poor old Astra 1K :(
 
It was the first satellite launch I've seen............maybe it should be my last!!
