Expansion slots and Discret 12?

Hi!

I am just setting up my first dish. I have a Triax SR 4007 receiver and was wondering:

1. I seem to have two "expansion slots" on the receiver. Are they good for anything these days on an analogue system?

2. I am trying to get Rai on the Hotbirds. I get other channels but I get nothing from Rai. Then I read at Kingofsat that they transmit both "clear" and "discret 12". What does the latter part mean?

[Analoguesat]

RAI often scramble their sports and film output. On analogue they use a line shuffling encryption called Discrete. There is a pic here:

The pictures are still there when they encrypt - just not very nice to look at for maore than a few seconds.

Don't have any answers I'm afraid.
However I've been watching Hotbird and Astra 19.2 for over a year with FTA Italian/French/German etc channels with no problems. Last week at least 200 channels suddenly dissappeared - RAI/MEDIASET and many many more. Tried re-tuning but they have all gone. Does anybody know what has happened?
