Thanks Paul ...
Not surprised you haven't locked Jamaica ..
Neither could I until I added the wings to the dish ....and even now its borderline that it remains locked.
But I'm now convinced that XHTVL9 Silverbird Jamaica TV and Congo at 5West ..all share one thing in common ..
A variation of AAC audio which the F15 cannot currently handle ...and yet the older less sensitive S9HD can ..
Hardware or firmware ??
One is fixable the other not ...but who do you turn to for help when support via the official DrHD forum has effectively been abandoned..
Such a pity to neglect an otherwise awesome box ..but as usual its all about ££££s or $$$$$.

Ok ..since the tilt on the 3rd wing has been altered yesterday I am now able to average 6.6 db occasionally 6.7 db on Jamaican mux ..
So seemed a good time to try this as the stream is fairly constant.
recorded short clips from both channels to a usb drive ...so that I could try and get some app on the PC to play them
Tried VLC and mediaplayer classic ..
Both apps refused ..so opened the files with DVBviewer ..
They play perfectly and ..the bonus ..
The audio stream is present and correctly decoded and rendered.
So I would suggest this problem is fixable in firmware ..but ..since no way to contact the manufacturers ..I doubt this will ever be solved by them.
I'm attaching a clip in zip form ..
So you can test for yourselves if you choose.
Very frustrating indeed..
And sorry about hi-jacking this thread.
All relevant to the F15 though.

My head is constantly rattling through logical possibilities ..and it just occurred to me that anyone with an F15 could help me eliminate the possibility that My F15 has a fault ..
All they need to do is pop the uploaded Jamaican video clip on a usb stick or drive in the 'records' folder ...and it should be possible to play my clip back ...sans or avec audio ..
This at least would eliminate 1 more possibility..
You might also need this in the same folder ..so am attaching it ..again in zip form
its the IFO file

Hi VS,

As soon as i receive mine i shall give it a try for you as i am sure all other owners of F15's could try as well, It would be helpful to know which firmware your running on your F15 as well Official or Patched

Thanks for that Digi ..
Yes its certainly very frustrating that the F15 can save a clip complete with audio stream but cannot itself render the same file correctly.
I'm sure if it is just a firmware issue ..and I had somewhere to send the clip ..it could be used to fix the problem ..as often the box creators cannot access the satellite/channel with compatibility issues ..
..but in the absence of any ongoing support ..where would I send it ?

I tried to play the ts file with my F15 (firmware 1.22 HD Gui), but the receiver just stuck (I had to reboot). I also tried to play it with my Vu+ Uno, but it doesn't start (no video, audio, no progress in time bar). The file has no problem with Daum Potplayer, but it does not play with VLC and Splash Pro. I opened it with TSDoctor 1.2 and it seems it has either a corrupted pmt or does not have it at all.

Thanks for trying this STRS ...bit of a mystery then ..
We are using different firmwares but this shouldn't be an issue ..
And it plays back of on mine ..but as you know ..without audio.
Anyone else want to try ..?
Did you also import the IFO file ?
Perhaps there has been a hardware revision since I purchased my F15 ..
What hardware rev is yours ?
Mine is in the photo ..

Yes both files. I guess I have to blame the version of the firmware for this issue, I have seen many differences with each version in media player.

Well, I bought it last March (2011), so I believe with both have the same version 1.00.

Hi Pete ..the version of firmware running is easily accessed from the 4th or 5th dropdown menu bar ..
..When you say ..no luck ..
Do you mean No audio ..or simply doesn't play ?

The other possibility is FAT ..
What I will try is transferring the clip I uploaded back to the F15s USB drive ...instead of just running it from the file already on the drive where it originated ..to see if I have any issues ..
Can't try this atm tho' as I'm in work.

Just checking how you guys applied my file ?
Did you copy it to a usb stick or usb drive already formatted by the F15 ..?
Or just dump it on a stick and plug it in ?
The F15 formats a drive in a way it can read ..so NTFS and some versions of FAT wont do .
In other words have you already recorded and played back your own files successfully on the F15 ..if so then you should just dump my clip file in the directory _the F15_ makes during the drive preparation.

Check the audio issue in this way. Watch the same channel that you have already recorded and then turn the recorded file on. It might help because then the audio might be recognized by system (software). just try.

Already tried that Michal..
IE was watching the Jamaican mux with no sound ..and went straight to the recorded file made from that mux ..
Still no audio..when it finished playing it automatically returned to the 'Live' stream ...still no audio..
cest la vie.

My technomate has similar problem with playing recorded audio from 27.5w (bbc) hd channels only and it can play audio in that way so that is why I thought it might be applied to f-15 successfully. I have no other ideas.

Ok, it's version 1.21p (also says 26th July 2011 but maybe that's when I loaded it)

The file refuses to play at all, just goes back to the media player file list. I'd loaded your file onto the same USB stick I've used in the DrHD to play lots of other stuff without problem. It's FAT32 according to it's properties.

Ok ..this will work ..
anyone up for another trial run ..?
Attached is a full zip of a clip minus audio on my F15
but this time its a copy of the entire 'Records' directory for the single clip
Dump it as is on a pen and try it once unzipped.
You will find a 2nd copy inside the sub folder within Records ...and a copy in the root of Records placed there by me ..
So 2 copies of the same clip ..
The one in the subfolder is as it would have been layed down by the F15
The sub folder name being 'TV 2 - 3853H Intels @000515_04JAN2000'

The one in the root is simply the contents of the sub folder moved back a level.
Both will play now I've included the .prv2 and mda files

But heres the odd thing ..
The original never produces audio when played back on the F15
The one in the root gets halfway into the short clip ...when there is a sudden burst of audio ..
At least thats how it is for me ..
What do you guys get ?
To me this proves the fault _could_ be fixed if the software developers wanted to ..as the Hardware obviously CAN decode and render the stream ...but for some reason chooses not to ..

Why I get some brief audio playing it from the root ...and nothing from the sub folder when both are identical ...I have no idea ...
A timing Issue perhaps ?
Even more confused now
Can anyone at least confirm or discount what I'm seeing/hearing
