Facebook

Well I have to say, I haven't missed Facebook one iota.

There's loads of other time thieves in life and I've been tackling some of those too, with plenty more to do in the near future - Have left a few Forums, stopped doing our very own Fantasy F1 thing, weeded out Android Apps (Generally the naggy ones that like to Notify every fart and whistle) - generally simplifying as much as currently seems possible.

Never had (and don't want) a Smartphone, so at least that's one potential nuisance not requiring action.
 
Three weeks on, Facebook is but a distant memory. Not given it a thought (apart from this update, natch).

I commend a Facebook free life to the house. Yah, yah, yah.

Suit yourself but I'll continue to stay in touch with family and friends all over the world thanks
 
I have a telephone ...................... and EMail :mellow:

I use it to keep in touch with friends & ex workmates that I had lost contact with,
We arrange a sea fishing trip on Southwold Pier thanks to FB contacts :) never caught much but the Sole Bay Inn was nice :rolleyes:
Still use the phone for family members who do not use Facebook or a pc & that is 90% of them :-rofl2

Try sending a photograph down a telephone line or more than 5 photos by email, exactly you cannot.
You are entitled to do what you want but please do not demonize me for continuing to use Facebook.

Interesting comment about E Mailing photos - Until moving from 720kbps Down/150kpbs Up Copper Wire ADSL to the 10Mbps Down/10 Mbps Up Community WAN a while back I couldn't send even one pic without losing the will to live.

But it's a breeze now, and only last week I sent a batch of fourteen pics (Similar selection to the ones posted in Nature Pics here) to my friends in Spain in whose Villa we stayed recently and this worked quickly and effectively as bulk attachments to a single EMail.

Anyway, as per Post #21, further simplifications to life's time thieves are in hand.
 
I would guess that you have to have an extraordinarily strong will not to get sucked in to everything FB tries to get itself involved in. May if you can discipline yourself it's a useful thing. But still something has to go - just look at the decline of Myspace.

I actually have/had a Myspace account. Must be about 10 years ago that I registered. I logged on a few times and then forgot about it. Nowadays I have no idea whether I'm still a member, what my ID was or what the password was. It's also highly likely that the email address registered there is one that doesn't exist nowadays. In fact, does Myspace still exist?
 
Like said Before, FB is nice when You try to find some old friends.

So I use it.
 
A few years ago I wanted to share some pictures and considered fb and picasa as options. At the time they had a limit on maximum resolution so I ended up using flickr as they permitted slightly larger ones. When I do it today I just use dropbox and send my friends a link.
