Famaval: works ok and has a reasonable price to performance ratio. But don't forget Famaval is a range starting from super cheap steel mini dishes through to 3.1m aluminium prime focus giants that cost more than 1000€.

1.4m dish: depends where you are in the province if you need a 1.4m. North of Alicante city 1.2m is plenty for everything. Going south a 1.2m dish is right on the limit for 2F reception by Torrevieja. Any further south and a 1.4m or bigger is essential for 2F. 1N reception (most BBC and ITV channels) is fine on a 1m dish throughout the province.

Ignore any adverts that tell you something is "future proof" for coming launches. Only way to know future requirements is wait and see.

yes the adverts more less say that they are future proof and this dish is the best on the market it will be about 14km west of Torrevieja.so a 1.4 should do for now?

Well it's a lot of money to especially if it doesn't work after the Autumn. The "future proof" thing is just marketing, as no one really knows. Personally, if you can do without Channel 5 for the time being, I would go for the 1m dish and wait and see. No point putting up a big dish now only to find later this year it no longer works.

If you want a 1m dish I've got a Famaval Hi Gain here that is like brand new.

Also, 2F has only been transmitting for a few months so far so we haven't had a chance to map seasonal signal level differences yet.

Am not to fussed about getting c5/c4 etci would rather get 7 west 19.2 east,13 east and a few others and that will cover films, footie and can always get bbc world from somewhere am just in the process of buying and will have to see if its possible to put a dish up first can you get 0.8 west in spain?are you near the torrevieja area, if i get the go ahead yes would be interested

I'm normally in the south Costa Blanca every other day so if you want that dish we can meet up some time.

0.8W: you can get some transponders from Thor5 Europe beam, and others from Thor6 K2 beam. Absolutely no chance of receiving Thor6 K1 Nordic, so no chance if you are thinking about Canal Digital Nordic even with a 3m dish.

that will be fine are you an installer?
Yes, full time installer, so I've got all the gear if you need help setting this up, or the DiSEqC motor.

what are the internet dongles like in spain ?
3G+... ADSL or wireless internet are much faster in my experience.

it will be 3g into a 3g router
What I mean is the connection on a dongle is the same as using a smart phone as a WiFi hotspot, which is pretty painful.

since the internet speeds are so poor what freesat channels would i get with a 1 metre dish dish from this area?,i dont want to put internet in if at the moment i am only going to be there a couple of months a yearand thought a 3g dongle would be enough for now

If it is a USB dongle, attaching it via a long USB extension cable and hanging it up in a window facing the 3G mast will improve speed and general performance.
