What is the average broadband connection rate (speed) in Sweden ?

Here it's 2 MBs ... but the reason I ask is that our minister responsible claims that Malta leads the EU in broadband technology

Cheers - Marts :)

Speed is limited by distance between your house and the exchange. The average speed may well be higher on a small island....

I mean what one pays for. I pay for a 2MB connection. One cannot have more unless it's a commercial concern. I have a feeling in my water that in Sweden one can get 10 / 12 MBs etc

A lot of the UK can get up to 8 Meg now.

Yea, in the UK if you are under 2KM from the exchange then you should be able to get a full 8 megabit connection (the maximum speed of ADSL1), if you are near a really big popular exchange then 24 megabits (ADSL2+) may be offered by some providers.

EDIT Just realised this thread was meant to be about Sweden...sorry, might be useful for you anyway I suppose. :)

i can get that BE 24mb adsl 2 service on my exchange but cant be bothered to change as i'm happy with 2mb adsl

Well, i do pay for 28MB and last time I checked the speed it was 10MB

Price is 24€ / month

Next year I will get a glass fiber cable

They promise 100MB :) That will be fun

Cheers chaps .. just as I thought .. a minister here making false claims. Off now to write a letter of indignation to the local tabloid. You Sir may attempt to fool all the people all the time, but you won't fool this ole chap any of the time :-rofl2

When ppl mention broadband there's an assumption that it's only ADSL. Of course that's not true.

Cable broadband doesn't rely on the distance to an exchange for speed and cable speed is up to 10mb just now.

Then there's broadband by satellite but I don't know what that's up to atm, mainly because it doesn't really interest me.
