Just an update to say that I never did get this sorted.
Receiver started to go belly up a couple of days later, before getting the transistor replaced. Would not hold channels with low symbol rates any longer, and finally positioner stopped working in both 1.2 and usals. Tried factory reset, and reset motor, but to no avail.
I cut my losses and bought a Technomate 1500 ci, which has worked out fine - as just after I got it, daliy k*ys became available for T*S.
We are getting along just fine, but still have to find out each other's nasty habits. (Hopefully it will have less than me.)
