John, can you take a picture from the front of the Fibo 120, i can see it slightly in the background but it looks damn nice in that color the little i can see....

I have used scotchbrite on the front face to take the shine off, more a matt finish like the bricks. I found the colour matching a bit tricky, as the texture changes the look of it, also the ambient light changes the appearance.
I have just taken this pic. 20:15 approx. and the bricks look much redder than they are. In the middle of the day the match is much better. :)

I also ran my 120cm with the original mount without any problems, and I quite liked the setup. I only changed because I was offered a faulty 1224 EL motor very cheap, and couldn't resist the opportunity to play. :D

Johns Fibo reminds me of the large Andrew dishes at the back with large holes around the backside of the rim.

My friend in Austria got a nice Fibo 120 with a Jaeger 1224 and the original backplate, see below.

Original back plate???

Actually the picture is a bit dark to see how the 1224 adapter plate is connected to the FIBO

Anyone know where can I buy the original back plate for the Fibo 120cm which works with the Jaeger 1224??

That will save me the trouble and time getting another mount modified for the same purpose of fitting the 1224 to the Fibo 120cm...

The satellite super store used to make them, but not any more, just as well as you pay through the nose with them:eek:

Have a go your self, it looks easy.

Here is another 1.2m Fibo on a Channel master polar mount. I quite like this idea. Cheaper way of motorizing than the 1224. It also has incline orbit tracking:)

It was a member from satdudez that sent me these pics. Hope he does not mind me showing them here:)

No problem Crossbones! The dish has now been replaced with a Precision 1.8 with a C/Ku LNB setup

Nicely modded :)

I would be worried about a 90cm dish being restrained only by a 5mm roll pin in a 14mm shaft, I added two 5mm bolts to my 55cm. :D

But if it works then it's OK. One of my worries would be that if the pin sheared, the dish would fly round and aquire a big dinge when it hits the mount. :-doh!

Yes I did think about that, but the shaft is bolted to the motor adapter, in my 1st pic. It shouldn't come free! (I hope) lol

My concern would be the connection of the shaft to the dish plate, 5mm pin in a 14 mm shaft, not the motor to the shaft. I agree that the motor to the shaft joint is quite robust, 8mm bolt through 20mm shaft. :)

To take away that problem for 5 mm make a hole in the 14 mm shaft at top and bottom make i 8mm wire insite an use 2 - 8x 10 mm with a nyloc ring below insite.
now the shaft can never away from it house.

Good modification and simpel to.

Are suggesting to drill an 8mm cross hole through a 14mm shaft.

Simple - yes, Good - not so sure

I think it would weaken the shaft so much that it would be likely to shear off. It is not a mod. that I would use myself. :)
