Finding Astra 2D

My Satellite Setup
1.8m motorised with Topfield TF5000CIP
My Location
Guardamar, Spain
My 1.8m motorised dish is up and running near Alicante, Spain. First stab at looking for FTA channels I found about 2,500 channels but very few of them are of interest to me and I haven't found BBC yet. The satellites I found so far are;-

1) Hotbird
2) Eutelsat2F4
3) Panam4 (KU)
4) Asiasat2 (C)
5) Asiasat3 (C)

I would like to find the Astra 2A, 2B, 2D satellite - should I look more East or more West ?

How important is the azimuth of the LNB. Turning the LNB doesn't seem to make much difference to my reception. May be the correct term for this is polarisation.

If it's motorised then you centre the LNb on the due South satellite and the skew is taken care of. If your going to be parked at 28e often then you could slightly adjust the skew for the Astra2 satellites.

Astra2 are located at an orbital slot of 28e.

Eutel 2F4 went to graveyard orbit nearly 10 years ago
PAS 4 is at 72E and barely possible in western Europe
The two Asiasats are not possible as they are the other side of the Earth from Europe.

Whats happened is you have fallen into the trap of scanning multiple satellites and thinking you have found channels on all of them

In reality whats actually happening is that you are getting the same channels where the frequency parameters are the same across multiple satellites.

Give us half a dozen channel names and frequencies and we will tell you which satellite you have found :)
 
If you find Hotbird, and are able to confirm that it really is Hotbird, you then need to go east by about 15 degrees.
