Hi all

I have a 1 metre motorised dish and a fixed sky mini dish at 28.2.

I have 2 co ax cables coming from each dish to the dm500s reciever, I just use the co-ax from the motorised set up now and if any probs I just swap over and use the co-ax from the fixed 1.

Question is what diseq switch would I need to run both dishes on same dm500s? so I could leave motorised dish on 19 or 13 e and if I want to watch 28 it would just use fixed dish as opposed to turning motorised 1.

Would I be able to do this from the 2 co-ax cables at dm 500 or would the switch need to go outside and how would I wire between both dishes.

Try putting a diseqc 1.0 switch on the two feeds inside the house, it may work.

Yes, it certainly should.

2.0 switches are backwards compatible in every application.

Will support 1.0, 1.1, 1.2, 2.0, 2.1, 2.2 Receivers.

Beware of 2.1 switches, though, as they won't support 1.0 or 2.0, only the .1 and .2 variations.

Not that .2 is relevant in the absence of a Motor.

2.1 would work fine... it just costs more money.
 
Ok switch came and I fitted it as follows.

LNB1 connection on switch went to motorised dish co-ax
LNB2 connection on switch went to sky fixed dish co-ax
Reciever connection on switch went to DM500S

Tried sending dish to 13e, moves motorised dish ok and can watch channels, if I then try to watch something on 28.2e it moves the motor back round to that sat and does not use the fixed sky dish on 28 which I thought it would do so I couls channel change more quickly between 28 and another sat on the motor system, I tried swapping the LNB1 and 2 connections on the switch but still same.

Do I have to set my sat configuration up differently in box at the mo its on many sats via diseqc rotor, should I change this to 2 sats via diseqc A/B??

Or does this switch need to be fitted outside between the 2 dishes??

EDIT: Just tried it outside between 2 dishes so LNB1 went straight to motorised LNB and LNB2 went to sky fixed dish and the reciever connection went to motor, still dont work :-ohcrap
 
You have not specified any diseqc1.0 commands according to your description of what you have done.

There should be another configuration to use, think its called "User Defined" or similar.
 
OK had another read and mess around today and its working now. (sort of)

I went into non standard setup left all the sats apart from 28.2 on LNB0 and changed 28.2 to LNB1.

Then I pressed ok on LNB1 and went into configuration, then into next page and put diseqc mode to 1.2 and parameters to A/B and put a tick in swap commands then saved.

This seems to work for me, although when I am on say regional bbc on the fixed dish at 28.2 and I change to a channel on 13 I get the message saying motor is turning to 13 and it does.

But then if I go back to 28 it says motor is turning to 28 which it dont and then there is a small delay before it uses the fixed 28 dish, is this normal between switching of the 2 lnb's I thought it would of been instant like changing between bbc1 and itv?

Putting LNB 1 to DiSEqC 1.0 should sort that out.
 
Interesting thread guys, I am trying to do exactly the same as this, except with twin coax feeds from both LNBs so I can record.

In this situation, would I put all 4 LNB feeds into a 4 way diseqc switch? If so, how would those be connected & the box (TM 7100 HD) be configured?

The functionality I want is the ability to have all signals from 28.2 static with PVR function, and when I select say hotbird or Astra 1, the dish motors round to the required feed.

Is this possible?

If not I would consider using 2 receivers as separate entities. Cheers all!
 
You'd need two x 2 way DiSEqC switches, but you may find that you have conflicts, as only one tuner would drive the dish, as there is only one feed from the motor.
 
OK I get you...

So in an ideal world, what's the best way to get this setup? Forget the mini dish & just have a twin output LNB straight to the receiver on a motorised dish? The thought I'm having is if I'm recording on a freesat channel but want to flick to something on a different satellite it will lose the signal on the freesat channel, hence why I wanted to keep the freesat static...

I'm beginning to think I'll go for 2 receivers!!!
 
Depends how the box works regarding recording. On a Freesat box, it records on LNB 2, so that's the one you need a fixed feed on, then have your motorised feed on LNB input 1.

As personal choice though, I'd go for two receivers.
