Time for the ants to heed the Great Ant God in the sky. Mine have just departed in a frenzy of activity.

I saw the cloud of insects just taking off so I couldn't get a decent shot, just a few stragglers on the step.

I'm itching all over just thinking about them :-ohmy

None here at the moment, though the nest at the front gate has had the enlarged openings for a fortnight now.

I supose this is the week for them, at least three continuous days of dry weather.

An emergence here in Warwickshire yesterday teatime

Still nothing, though the hangar doors are wide open.

I think they may have aleady left. :-doh

I still have ant lift-off here

I saw loads of winged ants scurrying round the pavements over in Kelso this morning :D

Not seen any (potentially!) flying ants here for about a month since I blitzed a nest in an old bag of manure from last year :D

Very interested to read all about this.

Can anyone tell me when Flying Uncle Day is?

"Flying Uncles"? - never "come across" one of those, but then "you never know":D. OTOH, all of my uncles have long since passed, and so I guess I never will never have the pleasure of celebrating "their Day" :-rofl2.

Was is supposed to be BST ?
Oh dammit, sorry CH, should have said 10PM BST. I'll see if I can find when it'll be scheduled again. They do repeat films regularly.

Apologies again.

Edit - Next Friday 7th August (definitely 10PM :) )

9th July. Looks like a possible flight soon, queen ants waiting outside the nest for their followers? - and right outside my front room window :-ohmy

Yes, the wall next to the garden gate has a lot of sand above ground, but I think they will wait for the next dry period, a week away down south.
