As an Allente subscriber, I’m happy that Allente operates in three countries and cannot exit (hopefully) satellite broadcasting in the short term. I’ll keep my subscription since the picture and sound quality are some of the best available in Scandinavia (if they don’t exit the business).

Satellite broadcasting is widelly used and it is primary method to distrubute channels in countries like Germany and Turkey. I agree with you that it will remain in use for quite some time.

I’m really sad to see FlySat closing. It has so many rare and hard-to-find frequencies, all thanks to us to the satellite hobbyist community. It will be hard to find another source where all that information is gathered in one place

I'm not a Allente customer. Many years ago I had a Canal Digital subscription (now a part of Allente) but I think it got way to expensive.

I watch a lot of German and Italian TV (along with British of course).
I hope at least Germany and Italy with their Tivusat will remain on satellite many years to come.
It seems the British channels are more likely to drop off which is a pity.

As you say - the quality using satellite distribution gives the best picture and possibly sound too.

I cancelled my Allente subscription 2 years ago when the price of the basic package went up yet again with an added extra "card fee." That was my breaking point. They did offer to remove this new fee for 12 months if I stayed, but by then it was too late, I had decided I might as well just stream the Finnish channels I was after for free now that I had decent fibre connections both in the UK and in my apartment in Finland. The Allente Basic package mainly just gives you a few of the Finnish FTA terrestrial channels plus Eurosport and Viasat History.

I'm still hopeful, because it is just an expired SSL certificate.
It happens more often, with sites that don't intend to go offline
Also I contacted him, hoping to find a way to at least backup the individual satellite pages.

Yup Im seeing it too - probably havent paid the hosting fee for the servers.

Whatever, just a few words of praise and respect for people who runs such free websites, providing valuable, detailed and useful content, driven not by money but by personal interest in the subject. Flysat was (if not coming back) so useful and informative.

I remember the good old days when the whole internet was more or less just run by enthusiasts for free, with no paywalls and maybe just the odd small banner advert. That stuff is still out there if you look hard enough, but you have to wade through a lot of commercial sites and AI slop and all sorts of crap before you find it...
