[QUOTE="Rachel_Sandford, post: 784601, member: 368463"] In 2007, the FA entered a deal with ITV and Setanta (now shut down) for £425m, significantly more than the previous £125m deal it had with BBC and BSkyB. The deal was written down in value in 2009 when ITV was forced to renegotiate due to advertising constraints. The current deal with ITV is a four-year £275m contract or £65m a year. Now, the FA just announced their latest deal with ITV. It's a two-year deal that is set to for the 2012-13 and 2013-14 seasons. The £90m, which is about £45m a year and about 30% less than the existing agreement, gives ITV the rights to broadcast all of England's home qualifiers and away friendlies for the 2014 World Cup, broadcasting a total of 16 live games each year, the highlights of each round, and the final. The broadcaster will have third-choice pick in the fifth and sixth rounds, fourth choice in the third and fourth rounds, and first choice of replays from third to sixth rounds. ITV.com and ITV Player will also get to show live matches, highlights and clips. Apart from that, they are bringing back FA Community Shield to free-to-air TV. Stuart Turner, group commercial director at the FA said: “We enjoy a great relationship with ITV and this extension to our agreement underlines that. Having the FA Cup and England alongside other ITV content such as the Champions League and World Cups shows that our football content holds its own in exalted company. It further confirms ITV's position as the home of free-to-air live football.” “The FA Cup and England internationals are events with huge resonance and appeal for our viewers,” said Peter Fincham, ITV director of television. “I'm delighted that we are extending our partnership with the FA and that ITV1 will continue to be the home of live football on free-to-air television.” Looks like ITV is the new channel to watch for all football fans.
