Hi rick

I've taken out the link because it refers to another forum which requires registration. Perhaps you could tell us what it said.

Thanks

This is the same device which we discussed on here many moons ago, the cryptoNotcher, see attached picture. Claims to filter out the encryption part of the incoming signal.....:D

How it could possibly do this prior to the signal being de-modulated and de-multiplexed is a complete mystery. :)

Even though the link has been removed, if its what I think it is, its a blocker. It goes between the cam and card via a pcb interface. All ecm/emm traffic goes through it, except for the commands to delete channel id's. These were very popular in aus back in the early days of irdeto 1.

Hope this helps,

TLD.

maybe used for cable, if its an rf filter of types.
no direct connection to the rf lead though, maybe capacitance coupled via the coax.
if its a blocker wouldnt it have some clever electronics in it and not just passive components.?

This came out a year or so ago and was built as a wind up, it was supposed to be inserted between the LNB and satellite receiver input.

Before the signal is transmitted from the provider, it is encrypted, mutiplexed and then modulated. The receiver then demodulates, demultiplexes and then decrypts, if the signal is taken prior to the receiver going through these stages, the information will be meaningless, the only identifiable content being the transponder id and network information.

So unless I am wrong in my belief of how the system works, there is no way that any non-complex device inserted prior to the above actions can possibly achieve anything other than an attenuation of the signal.

The attachment shows another device like the "O My God" Crypto Notcher, it also promisses to open all the encryption systems, "The Cube" is a bit more complicated as a device but practically is build in the same way as the Cryto notcher is. I have not tested any of these devices, but my first feeling is they should work. As a youngster 15 years ago I remember that we could not watch Italian channels as our government had blocked them ( during Communist rule in Albania ) with some kind of device, we could get the signal but with a lot of noise and no pic, so we had this homemade little devices like a little box with a tuner hidden in our appartments that allowed us to to clear the pic and the audio and beat the Russian Made Coding systems of that time. it used to be connected in the same way as Notcher is ( Antenna ( LN:cool: device-TV (receiver- TV) I mean I know it's a complete different "time" now and different encryptions but What im saying is that theoreticaly this is the same thing as before, so it should work if done in the proper way. Im going to try it. See if can beat todays system:) Peace!

I wish you luck menelaos, but analogue signals were a different kettle of fish and the early methods of encryption were pretty basic and easy to overcome, often only consisting of inserting noise into the signal.

Thats a very neat device menalaos, but it looks like a simple sync inserter unit

As Rolf says, digital is completely different, but history shows that anything can be liberated, given a bit of time and a few clever dickies.
