I read on rxtvinfo there are test transmissions of France 2 UHD on 5w. Is this true ? if so what is the frequency etc ?

11138V 29950 according to Flysat
With a genuine card and CAM for Fransat, Test UHD1 is the UHD demo found on ch444. For UHD 2 & 3 my tv says they are data services

Oh I see not true FTA then

This info is already 10 days old..
Finally, the UHD of France Television arrives on the sat.

It's new: 11138 V 29950 3/4: appearance of 3 UHD tests (UHD1, UHD2 and UHD3) + FR2, FR3, FR4 and FranceInfo (crypted in Viaccess) + Fransat Demo in HD (FTA) !!

It's therefore a tp of 65.5 Mb/s.
It is here that we notice the superiority of the sat with an available bandwidth (almost without limit).

According to the first measurements, UHD1 uses an average of 16.4 Mb/s !!

These tests are similar as TNT UHD tests in Paris (Tour Eifel), 3 years ago.

The three streams are currently encrypted in VIACCESS and accessible with a CAM and a FRANSAT card.
But are not listed in the channels available to the FRANSAT user.
The channel 444 which is listed corresponds to the normal FRANSAT UHD test.
The streams are in 4K or HD but always in HDR.

These are indeed 4 different streams and not copies of the 444 (444 videos are also used in the 3 new streams)

The idea of using FRANSAT equipment and encryption but also of limiting access makes it possible to distribute the tests at a lower cost and quickly but only to certain people.

Some little precisions; it's not 4k but UHD format (not the same)..

The UHD1 is only in UHD format, sometimes UHD2 is in UHD or in HD format, UHD3 is only in HD.

Not always an obligation to use a cam, the card is only needed with E2 or others receivers.

In a few weeks, these 3 tests will be remplaced by France 2 UHD, France 3 UHD et France 4 UHD. (always encrypted by Fransat), due to Olympic Games in Paris next year.

I saw an article in Telecompaper that states the demand of license to start a new broadcast multiplex on the French TNT (DTT) To allow France 2 and france 3 to broadcast in UHD.
So maybe when the multiplex goes on air we could be lucky in receiving a satellite feed... If they don't use the system of using the encrypted sat feed!

Maybe DVB-SIS ! ?

France 2 + 3 UHD will be on 5west to receive with Fransat CAM + card

The signal will be sent to terrestrial transmitters via 5w (?) as is the case now with the 2 transponders in multistream... but by what kind of transmission ?

Yes, but a few days before this frequency released 3 UHD tests (UHD1, UHD2 and UHD3)+ FR2, FR3, FR4 and FranceInfo.
UHD1 Test, UHD2 Test and UHD3 HEVC Video and AC4 Audio Test.

The tests conducted were DVB-SIS - single illumination system. This is a new way of being able to feed both terrestrial transmitters and DTH viewers by a single feed, in this case one provided and encrypted by Fransat. :( The terrestrial-specific data is encapsulated alongside the services on the regular satellite transponder so it can be reassembled at the DVB-T2 transmission sites, this must also include the decryption.

I guess we will see whether this is what ends up being used (there was a tender process for this earlier in the year), or otherwise clear T2-MI/multistream, but it seems like the writing is on the wall!
