There's not much in life that's free but here's one. Go to the Royal Mint's Website and register for a free Mini Medal in celebration of the car's 50th anniversary.

Perservere filling the form in. I had to fill it in twice as, after I clicked the submit button, it simply cleared all the fields.

But, it's now a completely different design, and like a Tarantino remake, nowhere near as good as the original either.

Mind you, there's German minis, and then Germans with a bit of spare time during work.

Thanks Paul, just registered, missed the little select your address button after having typed my postcode, but got it on the second attempt.:)

I see that C'Hopper the king of off topic has excelled himself on this occasion, free medals to Chainsaw powered motorbikes in only two posts? :-rofl2 :-lmao

Yes, I know. We must allow him his foibles.

Talking of them not being the same vehicle nowadays, I saw a sticker on the back of a proper Mini (note, not MINI!) which proudly proclaimed "100% BMW Free"

Probably just the wine.

You'll get an email acknowledgement if it's been processed, so you'll soon know.

Probably just the wine.

Actually it was cider, and in trying to find the straightline burnoff between the two versions - where the real Mini leaves the newbie for dead - I found the chainsaw motorcycle.

That leads to a site detailing all manner of modified road going vehicles, some of which are truly horrendous, but that's for another day.

I have to say that I was disappointed with video clips. I was hoping that they were going to use the original chains to transfer the power.

Now that would have been interesting to see the rider trying to avoid 24 razor sharp deknackering devices whilst piloting the bike around.

My medal arrived this morning.

It's a bit on the small side but can't complain fer nowt.
