Is there any reason why you cannot chip a free sat box to do exactly the same thing as you would by chipping a sky box or any other box?

What you are suggesting cannot be done since even a sky box cannot be chipped, I am afraid you are getting confused with c a b l e boxes but we cannot talk about those as it is against the forum rules to discuss c a b l e as this is a satellite tv forum

One reason - Freesat boxes dont have any conditional access electronics built into them to descramble to coded signals.

Therefore what you suggest is impossible.:toke:

Also it is not possible to "chip" a Sky satellite box
 
Details please markpdq - and any refrences to cable boxes will be disqualified.

Hi there

You are not getting confused are you? I mean I have ppl telling that you cannot chip a free sat box for whatever reason, but you say, you can. I have a free sat box with a dish and not a free view box running through my T.V. arieal.

That guy has had 5 days to respond but obviously had no response to make. The reason is, it cant be done.
 
Its quite amazing you know - people make these claims, and when challenged to prove it suddenly go very quiet :D

It basically means to add (somewhere on the circuit board) a small IC (Integrated Circuit) chip which is pre-programmed with certain information to emulate a certain set of instructions etc. Was and I think still is used on games consoles to overcome pirated software discs and C a b l e boxes to fool the systems into allowing you to view channels you are not paying for. As already mention lots of kiddies post on here saying this and that is possible and when challenged disappear into the night, but I have not heard of anything being available for Freesat boxes. I suspect they are referring to freeview
