Thanks, that's good to know. I would use a VPN connected to my UK home ISP so hopefully that will work too.
 
If you like 25 frames per second video then Freely is for you, BBC is apparently the only one with 50 at the moment. So if you're in the UK or close enough for a signal then for me satellite wins every time.

At the moment satelite wins. However there is a good chance the UK will be the first major European country to close its satelite broadcasts in favour of 100% IPTV delivery systems.

Rational:

Sky UK have more or less stopped selling satellite systems. SkyQ is still available to order on line but its well hidden & its known the sales drones push IP delivery systems when folk ring up with a satellite order.

As usual the BBC is desperatly short of money so expensive satellite delivery will go the way of the dodo sooner rather than later(*)

Channel4 have alreadty anounced some of their channels will be withdrawn from satellite in readyness for a future on line only delivery

(*) Yet another 10% in cost cutting required

Manhattan Aero now available again for order from Amazon (I have nabbed one).
 
Some small dealers taking advantage of meagre supplies by jacking up their prices to over a ton.

If I were a cynic, I'd suggest they're reselling unopened first-tranche boxes bought from Currys/Amazon.
 
I must admit I was surprised I managed to get a Manhattan Aero when it first came out in Currys. Hopefully, they will start to get more in stock soon as there seems to be demand for it.

I'm currently using mine to watch the snooker on 5Action in HD.

Well I guess recording is not their friend, they prefer everyone to visit the catchup sites, where they still control your viewing of the adverts.

Very much te same as the latest VM packages ( I mentioned elsewhere), the Tivo recording system is not in there.
 
Have just removed the DTT Yagi and miles of coax, ready for using the Aero instead.

DTT here has always been marginal, relying as it does upon Pontop Pike signals reflected from a nearby hill - no direct line of sight to Pontop Pike or even Bilsdale (which is only about six miles away as the crow flies) owing to our topography - I only really made use of DTT via the Freeview Play EPG as a quick way of navigating to programmes on Catch-Up services.

And this is the first step in simplifying my entire TV system throughout the house - getting too old for climbing up ladders etc!

Also, I have little remaining interesting in non-UK TV other than the wife's RAI stuff, so the Motorised kit is the next thing to dispense with.
 
Our location in Maidenhead is not great for Freeview either. Crystal Place is partly obscured by a hill and Hannington is on the edge of the reception area so in both cases the signal from some multiplexes was a bit dodgy at times, particularly in the summer when the leaves came out.
 
Pfft. Amazon still haven't fulfilled my order - est. Delivery date is 14 March

They, Currys and even John Lewis have been in then almost immediately out of stock several times now
